Tom Hardy Fired From Mobland Before Season 3

Tom Hardy is reportedly no longer attached to Mobland heading into a potential third season, with the reported reasons ranging from late arrivals and script disputes to tension with the creative team and disagreement with co-stars including Helen Mirren and Pi

Tom Hardy wrapped production on season 2 of Mobland with a high-profile role still attached to the Paramount+ series — at least for the episodes already in the pipeline. But the next chapter has reportedly been cut short.

Hardy. 48. is reportedly on the market for another TV role after being fired from the show before season 3 could move forward. Season 2 will still feature the Oscar nominee and now-former executive producer of Mobland. Neither Hardy nor anyone from the Mobland cast and crew has publicly commented on the report at the time of publication.

Hardy’s reported exit has been echoed by Deadline, which confirmed his departure.

The most specific claims about why Hardy was reportedly let go come from Puck News, which has been known for reliable reporting. The report says Hardy was consistently late to production while filming season 2. It also alleges he had frequent notes about the script and that he changed dialogue.

Those creative and scheduling frictions, the report adds, escalated to the point that producer Jez Butterworth nearly quit the show. In the end, Paramount fired Hardy.

The report also points to tension between Hardy and the ensemble cast. That group includes Hollywood veterans Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, and the report says Hardy disagreed with them.

That claim lands alongside Hardy’s own recent words about working with several of those performers. In an April 2025 interview with Parade. Hardy praised his experience with Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. saying. “I’ve always admired Helen. and I’ve always admired Pierce’s work. ” and that watching them do something he believes they’re “brilliant” at. while being part of that experience. was “fantastic.” He added that they are “great. brilliant actors. Super talented, and they’ve done so much great work.”.

Hardy also spoke warmly about Paddy Considine. saying he’d been “a huge fan of Paddy since I started here with Stephen Graham.” He went on to describe Considine and Michael Shannon as “certain character actors that were just amazing and just absolutely. incredibly inspiring. ” adding that Considine was “at the same age as I am” and that he’d been “dying to work with Paddy since we did Child 44.”.

All of that makes the reported cast disagreements feel especially sharp: Hardy publicly celebrated the very kind of collaboration the new report says turned strained.

Paramount+ has not officially renewed Mobland for season 3. Still, Deadline reported that a writers’ room has already been formed to create a third season.

For now, Hardy’s fate with Mobland appears settled in the reports — but the show’s next steps, and how that behind-the-scenes friction will shape what viewers eventually see, remain the big unanswered question.
