ThermoWorks Gravitas – ThermoWorks is launching its first scale, the Gravitas, built for precise kitchen weighing with a detachable, fully wireless display, 20-minute measurement memory, and NIST-traceable certified calibration.
A kitchen scale is supposed to sit there, quietly doing its job. The ThermoWorks Gravitas doesn’t want to do that. Instead, it’s built around one practical problem: the bowl you’re weighing shouldn’t block the numbers.
ThermoWorks—better known for food thermometers—has debuted its first scale, designed for precision measurements in the kitchen. The Gravitas comes with rigorous testing and certified calibration, and it leans hard into features that make day-to-day cooking feel less fiddly and more dependable.
The headline feature is a fully wireless, removable display. The backlit screen can be pulled off the base and positioned where you can actually see it—especially useful for large bowls. ThermoWorks also includes large digits, 180-degree auto rotation, and integrated magnets to offer more placement options. For wireless connectivity, the scale uses a 2.4GHz RF connection, avoiding Bluetooth or Wi‑Fi pairing.
There’s also memory built in, so the scale doesn’t feel like it’s constantly about to “forget” what you just measured. After five minutes of inactivity, the Gravitas enters standby mode—but it can still remember the last reading for up to 15 minutes in that state.
Battery life is another part of the pitch. The base unit is rated to last 300 hours on four AA batteries, while the display can run up to 350 hours on two AAs. The system is IP66 rated, and the measuring plate can be removed and washed by hand.
ThermoWorks ties the Gravitas to its accuracy credentials with performance specs and calibration. The scale measures to the tenth of a gram and to the thousandth of an ounce. Its certified calibration is NIST-traceable, with accuracy claimed to be within 0.7 grams. It also has a weight limit of up to 11 pounds (5kg).
