Microsoft shifts Fable to February 2027 after delay

Fable delayed – Microsoft has delayed its upcoming Fable reboot again, moving its launch from autumn 2026 to February 2027. The company says it will show a “new look” at the game during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, while also signaling that it won’t share details about

Fable was supposed to arrive in autumn 2026. Now, Microsoft wants players to wait until February 2027.

The change comes with a specific promise: a “new look” for the game at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. Microsoft framed the move as a timing decision designed to give the reboot a bigger spotlight during the holiday season planning cycle, rather than squeezing it into a crowded fall.

On its Xbox account on X. Microsoft said this year is “packed with incredible games for XBOX players to enjoy. ” and pointed to a lineup that already includes Halo: Campaign Evolved. Gears of War: E-Day. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and other titles such as Control Resonant. Star Wars: Galactic Racer. and Grand Theft Auto VI.

“In order to plan our game launches through the holidays. in a way that works best for players. we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves. ” Microsoft wrote. “We’re excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable. as well as our broader lineup. at XBOX Games Showcase on June 7.”.

The practical fallout is a fuller autumn and a clearer question about where Fable fits. The fall gaming season is already shaping up around several fixed dates: Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was announced this week with an October 23 release date. and Star Wars: Galactic Racer is set for October 6. With that schedule in place. Microsoft is likely to spread other launch announcements—including specific release dates for Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears of War: E-Day—across the June 7 showcase.

Fable itself has been through multiple shifts. Developed by Playground Games, it was first announced in 2020 as a “new beginning” for the series. Later, Microsoft set a release window of 2025, then pushed it to 2026. The game is set to arrive on Xbox Series X / S, PC, and PS5 when it launches.

At the same time, the June 7 showcase will come with limits of its own. Matt Booty. Xbox’s chief content officer. said Microsoft will not share news about Project Helix—the next-generation Xbox console—during the Xbox Games Showcase. Booty also said Microsoft had promised to share more about Helix “later this year. ” but that it won’t be part of the June presentation.

The sequence is hard to miss for fans watching both game release schedules and hardware messaging: Fable gets its own later launch and an early tease at June 7, while Project Helix is pushed away from the same spotlight.

  1. Wait so it was supposed to be autumn 2026 and now it’s February 2027?? That’s like… half a year more of nothing. I don’t even think the “new look” is gonna fix it honestly.

  2. So is this because they’re launching GTA VI in November and COD in October so they “can’t squeeze it in”? Seems like excuses. Also Halo: Campaign Evolved already took the spotlight, so what’s one more reboot gonna do lol. I’ll believe it when I see gameplay.

  3. I swear Microsoft delays everything. Like they keep moving it and then act surprised people forget. Also they said “new look” on June 7, which sounds great but it’s still not coming for forever. And if GTA VI is Nov 19 and COD is Oct 23 then people are gonna be busy, but is Fable even gonna compete or is it gonna be another broken beta situation? I saw something online that it was already canceled too so who knows.
