Taylor Swift wows Toy Story 5 premiere with two looks

Taylor Swift made a surprise splash at the “Toy Story 5” premiere in Los Angeles on June 9—performing her new song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” posing on the red carpet in two sparkling dresses, and signing an original “Toy Story” VHS with Tom Hanks.

Taylor Swift didn’t just walk the “Toy Story 5” red carpet in Los Angeles on June 9—she turned the night into a moment people were going to talk about long after the cameras packed up.

First came the styling: Swift appeared for photos in a grey, off-the-shoulder, embellished minidress from Erdem’s fall/winter ’26 collection. The look included a structured corset bodice with crystal embroidery. a bow-tie detail draped around her shoulders. and a floral jacquard. frayed-hem skirt. She posed with her hands in the minidress’s hidden pockets. finishing with dainty gold jewelry. matching peep-toe pumps. and her signature red lip.

On the carpet, Swift also brought a clear nod to the franchise. She joined “Toy Story 5” stars—including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Greta Lee—and showcased an on-theme accessory: her original “Toy Story” VHS tape.

Tom Hanks later described what happened when he met her about that item. “I didn’t get a selfie. but I did sign her original VHS of the first ‘Toy Story. ‘” Hanks told the publication. He added, “I told her she should have brought an original VHS machine and we could have signed it. And that could go in the Smithsonian as well.”.

As the night moved indoors, the spectacle widened. Inside the Dolby Theatre, guests watched the screening of the new Pixar film, which features an all-star cast. After the film ended, the curtain rose to reveal Swift sitting centerstage at the piano.

Swift then performed her latest song for the movie. “I Knew It. I Knew You.” For the performance. she changed out of the Erdem mini dress and into a yellow Oscar de la Renta gown with a plunge neckline. embellished with all-over floral sequins. Speaking to the crowd about the importance of Pixar movies, Swift said, “It means the world to me to be a small part of the universe of these films,” and added, “And ‘Toy Story 5’ is my favorite of all the ‘Toy Story’ movies. I’m so happy to be a part of it.”

The surprises kept coming. After her solo performance, legendary “Toy Story” songwriter Randy Newman appeared on stage, joining Swift for a duet of Newman’s “Toy Story” classic, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”
