NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Thursday afternoon, inside a Martin Street apartment in Nashville, Brytavious Chambers — better known as Tay Keith — was found dead during a welfare check, Metro Nashville Police confirmed.

Police said there was “no foul play suspected.” They did not immediately release a cause of death, saying it has not yet been determined.

Chambers, 29, had been building his career at a pace that few can match. In 2018. he was nominated for a Grammy for his work on Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode. ” a track he helped produce as he attended Middle Tennessee State University. Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Music list in 2025 included him, alongside Cambrian Strong, for their Drumatized record label.

In a post shared on Instagram just before his death, Chambers promoted doing what he loved: helping create music for major artists. His last Instagram post on May 7 announced Chris Brown’s latest song, “Call Your Name,” which features Sexyy Red and GloRilla.

The same record of ambition follows him back to his education. Middle Tennessee State University said Chambers graduated in December 2018 with degrees in integrated studies and media management. telling the school. “There wouldn’t be any point for me to come to college if I didn’t want to finish it — I could have just focused 100% on music.” He added. “By my last week of college. I had my first No. 1 single, so it didn’t make any sense to drop out.”.

In another moment from MTSU. Chambers described how close his grind was to his coursework: “I remember having a flight from New York. and I had a test the same day. So, I flew back from New York that morning, went home, then went straight to class. It was crazy. But if I knew that I could do that, then there wasn’t anything stopping me but myself.”.

People around him carried that same MTSU connection. Tyland Jackson, Chambers’ stylist and creative director, graduated in 2019, and Nicholas Brownlow, his public relations director and Drumatized, graduated that same year.

Forbes also reported that Chambers earned producer of the year at the BMI Awards in 2024. The Forbes listing described the trajectory that brought him to his Grammy-nominated status: “At 23. Tay Keith became a Grammy-nominated producer for his work on Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode. ’ adding to his roster of clients like Cardi B. Eminem and music’s ‘Queen B’ Beyoncé.”.

Even his earlier life — as described by a Memphis-based outlet — points to a hometown path that kept moving. The Commercial Appeal reported that Chambers was born in South Memphis and later lived in East Memphis and then Orange Mound.

For now. the details remain limited: his body was discovered Thursday afternoon as officers conducted a welfare check. police say no foul play is suspected. and the cause of death is still pending determination. What is clear is the contrast between a producer whose recent posts still pointed toward new music and a sudden end that has left questions unanswered — and a creative community without one of its hardest-working names.
