Suns must trade again after acquiring Miles Bridges

next trade – After acquiring Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets, the Phoenix Suns are adding a piece they can plug into their starting lineup. But the question now is what they do next—especially if they’re serious about chasing a bigger, splashy trade for Ja Morant.

The Phoenix Suns didn’t just add another body this offseason—they added a forward they believe can step into their starting lineup right away. Phoenix acquired Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets, setting the tone for an offseason that’s been about moving closer to the next level.

For some, that Bridges acquisition sounds like progress on its own. But the bigger feeling around Phoenix is that this is only part of the story. The Suns have built depth and flexibility with draft picks over the years. and the way things are shaping up makes it easy to imagine they have more than one move left in them.

If they want one trade that would truly change the trajectory, the name that keeps resurfacing is Ja Morant. Memphis has been shopping the Grizzlies guard since the trade deadline. yet it hasn’t been able to land an offer they liked. The reality is that Morant’s trade value isn’t high enough to guarantee a massive return. and the Grizzlies appear to understand they won’t get much in return.

Interest has come up elsewhere. The Minnesota Timberwolves were rumored to have interest in Morant, but they ended up moving on by acquiring LaMelo Ball. The New Orleans Pelicans have also been linked to Morant, but what they’ll do with their roster this offseason remains uncertain.

That’s where the Suns’ opportunity—and need—starts to look sharper. Phoenix has lacked a certain kind of guard depth, and the roster situation makes the fit feel more urgent. Devin Booker has played point guard for the past few seasons, even though it isn’t his natural position. Trading for Morant would relieve pressure from Booker and others. while bringing in someone who can still score at will once he’s in his spots.

But making a trade for a player like Morant comes with a price. The Suns would have to give something up. and the most obvious name tied to that kind of move is Jalen Green. With an influx of guards already on Phoenix’s roster. the idea is that Green could end up on the outside looking in. especially with his contract.

Trading Morant for Green would be the kind of all-in move a franchise makes when it’s done circling the question and ready to answer it. For now, Phoenix has added Miles Bridges and signaled it wants to be competitive. The next decision—whether to swing for Morant and sacrifice Green—will reveal how far the Suns are willing to go.

  1. I don’t get it, why would the Suns give up Jalen Green for Morant when they already have Devin Booker? Like Booker can just play point forever I guess. Also Ja already plays like he’s in a video game so idk if that’s smart.

  2. People keep saying Morant’s trade value isn’t high but he’s basically a superstar, so how is that not high? Maybe Memphis wants too much. And if they’re trading Green already then I’m guessing Green somehow becomes the backup guard??

  3. I feel like this whole Ja Morant thing is gonna fall apart and then Phoenix will just be stuck with more wing players like Bridges. And wasn’t it supposed to be “splashy” like the headline says? They keep mentioning Minnesota and the Pelicans too like it’s a sitcom. If Booker is playing point now, why not just draft some guards instead of doing all these trades?
