In the pitch-dark opening of Steve Lacy’s new “The Feeling” video, his head floats alone—an image that hangs there before the song pulls you forward.
The music video, directed by Matthew Castellanos, then shows Lacy strumming an acoustic guitar in an empty room. He sings in front of a sparkler, and later poses shirtless against psychedelic backdrops that shift the mood from stripped-down to almost hallucinatory.

Lacy has been teasing Oh Yeah?. since October 2025. when he dropped his single “Nice Shoes.” In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Jeff Ihaza at the time. the guitarist and producer said the new song introduced a “new era” in his career. I didn’t even know he was dropping an album next month, but the video preview already got me. Sparkler + shirtless psychedelic?? Lacy really said “new era” lol.
So the whole “floating head in pitch darkness” is like… supposed to represent his Grammy or whatever? I feel like labels do this to make it seem deeper than it is. Still gonna listen though.
