Spain and Portugal kick off Round of 32 Thursday

The World Cup’s Round of 32 continues Thursday with Spain starting its knockout journey against Austria at SoFi Stadium, Portugal meeting Croatia at BMO Field, and Switzerland facing Algeria in Vancouver. U.S. fans are also in a celebratory mood after Wednesda

The Round of 32 rolls on with three games on Thursday, and for Spain and Portugal, it’s the kind of moment that turns a tournament into a chase.

Spain begins its knockout journey against Austria at SoFi Stadium in Southern California, before Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal takes on fellow 40-something Luka Modrić and Croatia in Toronto at 8 p.m. ET. In the nightcap, Switzerland meets Algeria at 11 p.m. ET in Vancouver.

U.S. fans, meanwhile, are still riding the energy from Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, a result that sets up the Americans for a Round of 16 clash with Belgium in Seattle on July 6.
