Simone Biles Hospital Scare Leaves Fans Worrying

Simone Biles told followers she experienced “one of, if not the scariest” moments of her life, posting a hospital-bands photo on June 6. She gave no medical details, said she was bedridden and resting afterward, and noted her husband, Jonathan Owens, was in In
Simone Biles didn’t post details. She posted proof.
On June 6. the 11-time Olympic medalist shared an Instagram story showing her wrist with hospital bands. a quiet image that carried a loud message. “I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age. ” Biles captioned the photo. “But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”.
In the same post. she wrote that this was “one of. if not the scariest experience of my life. ” adding a detail that made the moment feel even more isolating. “Especially since Jonathan (Owens) was in Indy for practices.” Owens signed with the Indianapolis Colts in March. and Biles said he was not with her during the ordeal.
After the scare, Biles said she spent the week resting in bed. “I’ve been in bed resting this week,” she wrote. She also thanked the people who showed up while she was unwell: “s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers. Loooovveeee y’all,” she concluded.
A day after sharing the hospital bands, she posted another photo showing herself resting in bed with her dogs. In that post, she included an image of her heart rate—another window into what the week looked like, even without specifying what caused it.
The timing landed close to another moment in the public timeline: Biles previously shared a video of herself doing backflips on a trampoline on June 3.
Her June 6 posts didn’t offer medical specifics about what nearly happened. But they did connect to a longer story of her body and mind taking hits under the pressure of elite competition—and, at times, forcing her to step back.
In 2025, she told L’Equipe about how demanding the Olympics had been on her body. “I went back to the village, I took the elevator and my body literally collapsed. I was sick for 10 days,” she said about her experience at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She also recalled another stretch after sprinting with friends: “The other day. we were sprinting in the garden with friends. I had aches and pains for three days.”.
She has also spoken about the “twisties,” the mental block gymnasts can experience when they lose spatial awareness mid-air. At the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Biles withdrew from five events after suffering from “the twisties.” On her Facebook Watch show. “Simone vs Herself. ” she said. “So. having these mental blocks in the gym recently. it’s not been fun. it’s been scary. ” and added. “I’m getting lost in my skills. I’m so prepared that I don’t know if I’m overthinking. but it’s getting to the point where it’s becoming dangerous.”.
She described how that fear changed how she viewed training itself. “It’s like at this point, I don’t know what to do because it’s too dangerous to do, and you can’t change the routines,” she said.
Earlier accounts captured the stakes in stark language. She told New York magazine about the twisties: “It’s so dangerous. It’s basically life or death. It’s a miracle I landed on my feet.” She added, “If that was any other person, they would have gone out on a stretcher.”
When fans try to place the June 6 scare in the context of everything Biles has already shared, one question keeps returning: how much of the last few years has been about getting through danger—then learning to recover enough to keep going?
That uncertainty has followed her beyond the Olympics, too. Even before this latest health incident, Biles’ status for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles was not something she promised. Back in April 2025. she told French sports outlet L’Equipe. “Whether on the apparatus or in the stands. I still don’t know that.” She added. “But 2028 seems so far away. and my body is aging. I felt it in Paris.”.
During a TODAY appearance in January, she stayed noncommittal again, focusing on recovery. “If I have to say anything, I’m just like, ‘Give me a little bit more time to recover, mentally. Physically,’” she said. “We got a little bit more things to do and then we’ll see.”
For now. the facts are simple and stark: a June 6 Instagram story showed hospital bands; Biles described “almost dying” and called it “one of. if not the scariest” experiences of her life; she said she was resting in bed; and she noted that Jonathan Owens was in Indianapolis for Colts practices and wasn’t with her during the ordeal.
She hasn’t explained what happened. She has only offered the promise that she’ll “explain sooner or later,” while letting the images—resting, heart rate, hospital wristbands—do the rest.

Wait so she almost died??
This is so scary. Like why would she show the hospital bracelet if it was nothing though. Hope she’s okay now.
Jonathan was in Indy so that means it happened because she was alone, right? People love blaming stuff like that. But also maybe she just had some random issue with her wrist?? The heart rate thing makes me think it was serious.
I saw the hospital bands and was like oh no, she’s in danger. Then the next pic is her in bed with the dogs like nothing, so I’m confused. Does that mean she was okay soon or is she still not right? Also “bingo card” is funny but not when it’s your life. Get well Simone for real.
