Sepideh Moafi shuts down “beef” talk on The Pitt

Sepideh Moafi, a star of HBO’s “The Pitt,” dismissed suggestions that any personal rivalry exists with Noah Wyle, saying their onscreen tension stays strictly inside the show’s ethical standoff. She also described how their chemistry helped secure her role and

Sepideh Moafi’s first instinct when the “beef” talk reached her wasn’t to argue — it was to shut it down.

In an interview published May 27. the actress and opera singer responded bluntly to the idea that her relationship with Noah Wyle goes beyond what’s happening on HBO’s Emmy-winning drama “The Pitt.” “Absolutely not. ” Moafi said. “We’re really great colleagues. Noah and I have always had a great working relationship. which is why it actually felt safe to do the darker. dirtier work in Episode 15.”.

Her point was clear: the conflict viewers see between her character and Wyle’s stays in character. not in the hallway. In the series, Moafi plays Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, while Wyle portrays Dr. Robby. Their tension, she said, is about the ethical standoff the characters share — not any real-world feud.

Moafi added that their easy rapport showed up even during filming. “Between takes. the two were cracking each other up as an attempt at levity while filming the final episode. ” she said. The pressure of the season’s storyline simmered until it boiled over in “The Pitt’s” Season 2 finale. when Robby reacted to the revelation of Al-Hashimi’s health issue.

“So that’s completely false that there’s a personal sort of beef or rivalry between us, at least not that I’m aware of,” Moafi added.

The casting story, Moafi said, also points to a partnership that formed quickly. She previously told USA TODAY that her and Wyle’s dynamic as costars was electric from the start. During the audition process, Moafi flew to Los Angeles for a chemistry test reading with Wyle to secure casting approval. The duo worked so well together, so instantly, that Wyle suggested they just roll the cameras.

“It was so sweet, Noah was like, ‘Do we need to rehearse this?’ And I was like, ‘I prefer not to.’ So we just played on camera,” Moafi said. “It took four days before I found out that I got the role. Once I did, it’s been off like a bullet.”

On what fans should expect next, Noah Wyle has teased what’s ahead for Season 3. Moafi didn’t contradict that momentum; instead. she framed it as the next chapter of the same charged world — with real on-set collaboration behind the scenes. Wyle’s promise for Season 3 is an “explosive” season ahead for viewers of the HBO drama.

Moafi was also asked about whether Dr. Al-Hashimi will return. Al-Hashimi was brought on board the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department as Robby’s temporary replacement while he takes a long-overdue sabbatical. But Moafi said she expects to see Al-Hashimi back in action alongside Robby in Season 3. “I have no doubt she’ll come back stronger — even more resilient and grounded in herself and her purpose. ” Moafi previously told USA TODAY.

Season 3, set to take place close to Thanksgiving in November, has not announced a release date.
