Senator Mark Kelly Is Full of It

If you believe a Democrat when he’s talking, you’re probably deluded. Look, I’m a Republican—so yeah, I’ve got skin in the game. You should be skeptical of me, honestly. But here is the thing: even the so-called moderate Democrats will spout the most ridiculous lies to serve a specific narrative. It doesn’t even matter that these things are easily refuted. Far more people hear the original lie than the eventual correction, and the media—well, they aren’t exactly lining up to hold anyone to account.

Take Senator Mark Kelly. Recently, he suggested that the last thing he’d want on a Space Shuttle crew is seven white-guy Navy test pilots, which is ironic coming from him. I mean, come on. How do you take that seriously? He’s supposed to be one of the “sane” ones, right? Not a Schiff or a Swalwell. He’s the American hero. The guy who’s supposedly above the partisan fray, yet here he is, saying something that is objectively, provably wrong—expecting—no, banking on the fact that the media won’t call him out on it.

Let’s look at the facts. In May 2011, Kelly commanded the final flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The crew? Six astronauts: Gregory Johnson, Michael Fincke, Greg Chamitoff, Andrew Feustel, and Roberto Vittori.

Six men. All of them men. Five Americans, one Italian. Demographically speaking, it was overwhelmingly white, with no Black, Hispanic, or female astronauts on that mission. Most were from military backgrounds, specifically Navy and Air Force. You can hear the hum of the air conditioner in the office while typing this, and it’s just as annoying as the double standard here. Kelly literally led a crew of white men, yet he claims that’s the last thing he would want.

It’s classic propaganda. He’ll probably try to pull a “bait and switch,” maybe arguing that not all of them were Navy test pilots, or that the number was six and not seven. But was that really his point? We all know what he meant. He was pushing the “diversity is our strength” line. It wasn’t an opportunity to get into some Clintonesque debate about what the definition of “white guys” is.

Actually, watching the clip again, it’s just exhausting. We could say “shame on you, Senator,” but what is the point? He clearly has no shame. It’s just how the game is played now, I guess. Or maybe it’s not? Regardless, this fight is going to be a long one, and frankly, I’m not sure if people are even paying attention anymore.
