Savannah Guthrie stood at the desk on the “Today” set Tuesday, flanked by her fellow anchors, and asked viewers for help with a voice that did not hide the strain.
The plea came after new revelations tied to the kidnapping of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. A second ransom note sent following Nancy Guthrie’s abduction. described in February. reportedly indicated she died sometime after she was taken. The note made no demand for money and included language that suggested she was “with nature.” The wording. as it has been understood. appeared to imply that the abductors may have buried the grandmother.
Guthrie said she did not have comment on the new information and that she was not involved in the network’s coverage of her mother’s abduction. Still, she said she could not stay silent.
“I can’t pretend I’m not here,” she said. “And so since I am, I wanted to just take the opportunity to ask people, really to beg people, to come forward. Somebody knows something.”
She tied her request to the people closest to her: her sister, Annie, and brother, Camron, along with their extended families and children.
“This is a new story that today is on your radar, but this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day. And we are in agony and we cannot be at peace,” she said.
Guthrie said she tries to come out and smile and have joy on the show every day, but her family is not at peace. “This is the moment to tell you we need your help; we are begging you for help.”
She reminded viewers that there is a reward and that people “can tell us, it can be anonymous.”
The Guthrie family is offering a $1-million reward for the return of Nancy Guthrie. The FBI is also offering a $100,000 reward.
To reach the FBI, Anchor Craig Melvin encouraged anyone with information to call (800) CALL-FBI.
The case is being investigated by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, working with the FBI.
New details about the abduction itself have been central to the search. Investigators have received thousands of tips, and experts had said authorities’ best chance to solve the case quickly would come from identifying the suspect in Nest video footage.
In that footage, an individual appeared at the door of Guthrie’s home at 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 1. Authorities say the man was wearing a balaclava. gloves and a backpack. with a gun holstered by his waist positioned at the front of his body and visible. At one point. the man noticed the camera on the front porch and tried to cover the lens with his hand.
The suspect then moved around the patio and yard area, apparently looking to obstruct the camera before settling on greenery found in the yard.
According to the FBI, the man was wearing a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker backpack. Authorities described him as about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with an average build.
Officials also say Nancy Guthrie had a pacemaker, and investigators feared for her health because none of her heart medications were taken during the abduction.
Savannah Guthrie returned to the show in early April after taking an extended leave of absence while the investigation—once confined to a local police search—became a national story.
In a moment that blended public visibility with private fear, Guthrie’s message landed on one clear need: people with information, no matter how small, should come forward now.

This is just so messed up, hope they find whoever did it.
Wait, a second ransom note with no money demand? That sounds like a trap or like they already did something horrible. Also “with nature”?? I can’t even.
I saw something about this and I thought Savannah was involved like, personally with the investigation? Maybe I’m mixing it up with another story, but if the note suggests the grandma died then how is anyone supposed to help now…
The way they say the note implied she was buried is just haunting. But why would they send another note at all if there was no demand? “Today” set and everything, like of course they’re putting it on TV, but I’m still like… someone in Pima County knows. I feel bad for her sister and brother and the kids, because you know they’re getting hit with this every day. I hope whoever wrote that note rots.
