Before ‘The Odyssey,’ Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ Reaches Hulu

Interstellar streams – Christopher Nolan’s next sci-fi event, The Odyssey, is set for July 2026—but before that arrives, his 2014 classic Interstellar is landing on Hulu domestically. The streaming move follows a 10th-anniversary IMAX re-release that pushed Interstellar’s worldwide
By the time July rolls around. Christopher Nolan will be back in the arena—this time with The Odyssey. described as both his most-anticipated 2026 film and the most expensive project of his career. But even before Nolan’s next giant leap. there’s a different kind of countdown happening for audiences: Interstellar is coming to Hulu domestically. giving viewers a fresh way to revisit the sci-fi epic that helped define his blockbuster style.
The timing matters. Nolan is coming off his first-ever Best Picture and Best Director wins at the Oscars. a career milestone that has pushed him to a level he hadn’t experienced before. His previous epic. Oppenheimer—the biographical thriller that earned him his Best Director Academy Award—grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide. and The Odyssey is expected to eclipse it.
In between that momentum and The Odyssey’s release, Interstellar’s numbers have already shown how enduring the story remains. The film turned 10 a couple of years ago. and in celebration it was re-issued in Nolan’s preferred format. IMAX. in theaters worldwide. That re-release shifted Interstellar’s global haul from around $670 million in 2014 to more than $770 million in 2025. against a reported budget of around $165 million. During the same 10th-anniversary run, the movie also passed the $200 million mark domestically.
The Hulu move tees up that legacy right as Nolan prepares to unveil another massive-scale science fiction project. Ahead of The Odyssey’s release in July, Nolan’s 2014 classic—starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway—is being released on the Hulu streaming service domestically.
Interstellar’s afterlife isn’t just about audiences returning for bigger screens. The film also has a throughline into Nolan’s next chapter: it famously featured Matt Damon in an extended cameo, and Damon also played a supporting role in Oppenheimer. Now, Damon will headline The Odyssey.
There’s a clear bridge between the past and what’s coming: Nolan’s biggest modern surge at the box office has been powered by heavyweight theater events, but the story is about to travel again—first through IMAX, and now through streaming—before The Odyssey takes over the calendar.
Interstellar will be made available to stream on Hulu on July 1.

Hulu really said let’s just drop Interstellar right before July 2026, ok. I’ll finally pretend I understand the whole space part.
So is “The Odyssey” like a sequel to Interstellar? Or is it the same characters? I’m confused bc they keep mentioning Matt Damon like he’s gonna be in both.
They already had it in theaters in IMAX again so why not just keep charging people? Hulu is like the easy mode. Also I read somewhere Interstellar made $1 billion already?? maybe I’m mixing it with Oppenheimer lol.
July 1 can’t come fast enough, I guess. I feel like Hulu is always late though like “hey remember this movie from 2014” yeah thanks. And Nolan just won Best Picture/Director so now everything he touches gets streamed. Not complaining, just saying feels like a marketing countdown more than anything.
