Saturday French Open Results Set Up Sunday Matchups

Saturday French – On Saturday at Stade Roland Garros on red clay in Paris, several women’s and doubles matches delivered decisive results, including a men’s doubles walkover. Here are the Saturday results from the French Open.
PARIS — The red clay at Stade Roland Garros didn’t pause for anyone Saturday. With the purse listed at €61,723,000, matches across the women’s draw and doubles brackets swung quickly—especially in the women’s doubles, where several pairings broke through early and never looked back.
In women’s singles, Maja Chwalinska of Poland defeated Maria Sakkari of Greece in the third round, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Doubles brought their own drama, though not all of it arrived the same way.
In men’s doubles, Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico and Alejandro Tabilo of Chile advanced in the first round on a walkover over Juan Manuel Cerundolo and Mariano Navone of Argentina.
Women’s doubles had no such detours. Andreja Klepac of Slovenia and Magali Kempen of Belgium beat Ingrid Martins of Brazil and Solana Sierra of Argentina 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.
Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil and Liudmila Samsonova of Russia also moved on, defeating Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain and Marie Bouzkova of Czechia 6-1, 6-4.
Zhang Shuai of China and Elise Mertens, the (3) seed from Belgium, won in the second round as well, beating Tamara Korpatsch of Germany and Nicole Fossa Huergo of Argentina 6-1, 6-1.
By the end of the Saturday slate, the shapes of Sunday’s matchups were clearer: Chwalinska’s comeback in women’s singles, a men’s doubles walkover that changed the rhythm of the draw, and women’s doubles results marked by early control on red clay.
All matches were played at Stade Roland Garros in Paris on the tournament’s red clay surface, with the event purse listed as €61,723,000.

Walkover in men’s doubles?? so they just… skipped the match? that seems not fair.
Chwalinska beat Sakkari after being down 1-6? honestly I never even heard of her, so good for her. Also red clay is basically cheating anyway lol.
Wait does a walkover mean like an injury or like the other team got disqualified? cuz the article kinda just drops it and moves on, which is annoying.
I don’t get why they focus on doubles so much, but okay. €61,723,000 purse too like who’s counting that much, meanwhile someone wins 6-1 6-1 and I’m still confused how that’s “decisive results.”
