Jason Lewis walked along a beach and let the silence speak first.

More than three years after disappearing from the public eye. the ‘Sex and the City’ actor resurfaced with a new Instagram video posted Wednesday. May 20. In the clip, Lewis addressed followers while moving along the shoreline, telling them, “I went quiet. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I had something to do.”.

He framed his absence as a trade-off tied to his career. “The kind of creative work that doesn’t leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that,” Lewis said, giving fans a glimpse of what kept him away—without naming what it was.

The message is still wrapped in mystery. Lewis didn’t reveal details about the project he’s been working on. but he said he remains deeply involved in it. “It’s the kind of work that needs to find its people, though. I’m far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what I’ve been doing.”.

In the caption, he kept it simple: “After three years, it was time.”

The last time many viewers saw Lewis in the spotlight was late 2022, when he appeared on Season 31 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. He was paired with professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd, and the couple became the season’s first eliminated pair.

At the time, Lewis said his fiancée, actress Liz Godwin, pushed him to finally accept the DWTS offer after years of turning it down. “This year, when the offer came in, my fiancée asked me to be a little less pigheaded and at least take a look at a show,” he said.

He described watching an episode with Godwin as a turning point. “I was awestruck” after they saw it together, and he praised the show’s production, saying, “It is incredibly beautifully done. The dancers are so talented.”

In a separate interview with TV Insider, Lewis reflected positively on the experience even after the early exit. “This is an incredible group of people. I’ve been very grateful to be a part of this,” he said.

Lewis and Godwin got engaged in 2019. The couple have a 20-year age difference and met at a party in Miami four years earlier. Lewis previously said he hoped the show might even help with his wedding dance.

When Godwin reacted to his pairing with Murgatroyd, Lewis explained she had “her short list of people that she really hoped I was going to end up with, and Peta was on it.”

Before DWTS, Lewis said he kept declining because he “perceived it as reality TV and it wasn’t a point of interest.” But when the chance came again, Godwin encouraged him to reconsider—telling him to be “a little less pigheaded and at least take a look at the show.”

Now, Lewis is offering that same kind of careful language to his followers, still tight-lipped about what’s next. He has not shared additional details about the mystery project.

His IMDb page lists Restaveks, currently in post-production, as the clearest public indication of what has occupied him during his years away from the spotlight.
