Royals face Cardinals tonight—parking changes require extra time

With the Royals set to host the St. Louis Cardinals at Kauffan Stadium at 6:40 p.m., the club is asking fans to arrive earlier than usual. Some parking lots and sections won’t be available because the Truman Sports Complex is configured for World Cup matches.

The first pitch is set for 6:40 p.m., and the Royals are already warning fans to plan for the kind of delay that isn’t really about traffic.

Tonight, when the Kansas City Royals host the St. Louis Cardinals to kick off their annual series at Kauffman Stadium, the club says the Truman Sports Complex is configured for World Cup matches—meaning some parking options are different than normal.

Royals officials say fans should allow extra time getting to the game because parking availability has changed. Parking Lots E and D, along with sections of Lots G, F and C, are not available. The club posted a map of parking availability on its website.

Once fans arrive, the Royals say the normal fan safety screening process will still be in place. The request is simply to start the day earlier. “We just ask fans to come a bit earlier than usual, since they may have to walk in from a further lot,” a club spokesperson said.

There’s another reason the club points to for arriving ahead of time: Wednesday night’s posting that it will welcome Team England to the club on Thursday. England is calling Kansas City its home base during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a series that’s one of the most-attended of the season, the Royals’ message is straightforward: if you’re coming for the Cardinals matchup, build in a little extra time now—because the walk might be part of the plan.
