Rick and Morty Season 9 premieres May 24

“Rick and Morty” returns for its ninth season this week with a May 24 premiere on Adult Swim, followed by weekly new episodes. Season 9 will stream on HBO Max and Hulu starting June 15.

By Sunday night, the garage door is set to swing open again. “Rick and Morty” is launching its ninth season on Sunday, May 24 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim—right in the middle of the kind of weekend that usually ends with everyone pretending they’ll be “fine” on Monday.

The show’s official synopsis isn’t exactly subtle about what to expect. It describes Season Nine as “all certified bangers.” It also leans into the series’ signature tone, promising “No AI slop!. Just Grade A organic slop. made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. ” and adding: “Please watch. or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.”.

There’s also a quick shift in timing for viewers who don’t catch the episodes live. This season, new “Rick and Morty” episodes will be available to stream even sooner than usual—an update that’s especially welcome if you’ve ever lost track of time waiting for the next drop.

New episodes will continue on a weekly schedule every Sunday. Season 9 has 10 episodes, which carries the season through to a finale on July 26.

For the live-watch crowd. the pattern is straightforward: start with the premiere on May 24. then settle in each Sunday night after. For everyone else, the streaming schedule starts earlier than the older “wait months” model. New episodes will be available to stream weekly on HBO Max and Hulu starting June 15.

That earlier window is the reason fans should pay attention beyond the dates on the calendar. Showrunners Scott Marder and Dan Harmon previously said they’d rather the streaming delay didn’t stretch out so long. Marder told TheWrap last year that he didn’t know how it fell into that distribution model. saying they were “constantly trying to shrink that window. ” with the possibility that it could shrink to “three months this year.” He also said he doesn’t see the benefit of the longer wait. pointing out that “Most shows are on streamers the next day or even that same day.”.

If you want a preview before the May 24 premiere, the trailer is already out for fans to watch—again and again—until the next episode officially lands.
