Over 12,000 pounds of bacon recalled: What to know
Maple Leaf Foods has recalled over 12,000 pounds of bacon imported to the U.S. from Canada due to an import violation.
A “retro” refrigerator previously sold on Amazon and at Home Depot stores is being recalled after an individual died in an electrical fire.
Galanz Americas Limited Company is recalling about 121,680 units of Galanz Retro Refrigerators because the device’s electrical components can short-circuit and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards, according to a recall report issued Thursday, July 30, on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) website.
The recalled refrigerators are manufactured by Zhongshan Galanz in China and imported by Home Depot and Galanz Americas, per the recall report.
The CPSC is aware of 34 reports of fire involving the refrigerators.
Galanz Americas estimates that about 121,680 refrigerators were sold at Home Depot stores across the country and online on Amazon.com for between $330 and $530. The refrigerators, which measure about 58 inches high, 24 inches deep and 21 inches wide, were sold in black, blue, red and white, according to the recall notice.
How to tell if your refrigerator is affected
The recall applies to refrigerators with date codes ranging from December 2018 through December 2020, and includes one of the following model numbers: BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER or GLR76TWEER.
The model number, “Galanz” and the date code are printed on a white label on the upper left-hand corner on the back of the unit.
Remedy
The company is advising consumers to unplug and stop using the recalled refrigerators immediately until they’re repaired. Galanz Americas should be contacted to schedule a free in-home repair by a qualified technician.
