GREENE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – A daycare employee is held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond after police say she was seen on video dragging a child across the floor.
District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause to charge Jayden Grider with second-degree battery.
On July 28, Arkansas Crimes Against Children and Paragould police received a report of a 3-year-old child being injured at Bloom Pediatric Academy.
According to the affidavit, the child had been placed in time-out when Grider grabbed the child by the ankles after the child began striking themselves.
Grider dragged the child a short distance, causing what the affidavit described as “pretty extensive abrasions along the child’s back ribcage area.” Photos provided to investigators showed four abrasions on the child’s back.
Investigators reviewed video from the daycare that matched the report. Grider acknowledged in an interview grabbing the child by the ankles and said she did not report the incident to her supervisor.
Hitt ordered Grider to have no contact with the victims.
We reached out to Bloom Pediatric Academy. The director said Grider is no longer employed there and that they try to be proactive when it comes to the safety of their children.
