Reece Weaver hangs up DCC uniform after Season 3 finale

Reece Weaver says goodbye to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in the Season 3 finale of Netflix’s “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” revealing her retirement after months of wrestling with pain, uncertainty, and what comes next. The docuserie
For Reece Weaver, the decision didn’t arrive like a clean cut. It landed in the tense quiet before she sat down with Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders leadership—Kelli Finglass and choreographer Judy Trammell—three months after the team’s final home game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 21, 2025.
In the car beforehand, Weaver, 24, told her husband, Will Allman, “I kind of feel like I’m going to throw up.” The couple prayed before the meeting, and when Weaver finally spoke to Finglass and Trammell, the emotion came fast.
“This is a hard day. But I think I’m going to move on to a new chapter. I’m really excited about it, but it’s been hard to make that decision,” Weaver said during her meeting. She paused through tears as she told the two leaders. “I owe a lot to you guys because y’all trusted me with this position. this job. It’s been everything and more that I could imagine.”.
Her message turned into a kind of blessing for what would replace her. “But my cup is filled to the brim. And if my absence gives another girl an opportunity for her cup to be filled, then I consider that the greatest honor, leaving and moving forward. And so, that’s my decision.”
After breaking the news, Weaver hung her iconic uniform on the rack reserved for cheerleaders who aren’t returning for the 2026-2027 season. “Not going to look at it for too long,” she added.
Trammell embraced her as she offered the final stamp of approval—“You’ve done a great job and left your mark here.”
The retirement followed a season that began with worry and ended with injury. Early on, Weaver said she had been struggling with hip pain. But near the end of the season. things shifted when she suffered a high ankle sprain during rehearsals for the team’s Christmas show. The injury sidelined her for two games while she worked with the team’s physical therapist to get back out on the field.
As the season played out, retirement wasn’t a sudden idea—it was something she had been turning over. Over the course of Season 3, Weaver considered stepping away and discussed it at length with Allman, whom she married in 2024. “The biggest pro for staying are my teammates,” Weaver said to him. “Doing game days, doing appearances and stuff, it’s just so special. It’s such a unique experience to do with your best friends. and that’s the thing that’s holding me in for staying. But I don’t know.”.
She felt the pull of what cheerleading had given her, but she also wanted to answer a question that kept coming back—how to live as more than a role. “Who else is Reece?” she wondered. “Who’s us?”
In the documentary’s outline of her next chapter, her uncertainty doesn’t match her confidence about one thing: she’s ready to try.
Weaver first auditioned for the squad in 2023. calling it “a really. really big dream.” She said she wanted to be part of something bigger than herself and “leave a legacy.” Over time. that legacy became personal to fans as well. In Season 3. teammates even played on her popularity for laughs. with Jada McLean quipping during a live show. “People came here for Reece. No Reece, no peace. No Reece, no ticket sales.”.
Off the field. Weaver said she had built a large audience—more than 1 million followers on Instagram and more than 1 million followers on TikTok—and still didn’t know exactly what would come next. She described having “some really cool” opportunities. but the throughline in her words was the same moment of decision: “I know that I’m supposed to take that leap.”.
For the cheerleaders themselves, leaving isn’t a single event—it’s an end of an entire cycle. After each NFL season. DCC members meet with Finglass and Trammell to discuss the last few months and whether or not they intend to return for tryouts. By the end of Season 3, Weaver and several others decided the timing was right.
Weaver is not the only DCC member saying goodbye at the end of the season. Also moving on from DCC are fifth-years Megan McElaney, Madeline Salter, Lea Tunnell and Kleine Powell.
