The footage shows Smith, shirtless, outside a mansion as he argues with a woman. In the clip, he can be heard saying, “she just called the police.”
The woman, seemingly named Kristen, posted the video and attached a set of explosive claims. In her post, she wrote: “Today is the DAY!. GENO SMITH beat my a** cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch s** online and play Call of Duty.”.
Police are reportedly reviewing the case after allegations of assault were made. TMZ has reported that law enforcement is looking into the matter as the footage continues to circulate online.
The Jets have not publicly responded to the claims, and Smith’s representatives have not offered comment either. The Daily Mail said it contacted Smith’s representatives and the Jets for comment.
Smith, 35, has returned to the team he joined in 2013 after the Jets signed him for a second spell. He previously entered the league when New York drafted him in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Across his career, Smith has also played for the New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders. He was named the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year in 2022.
The trade that brought him back to New York came in March, with Smith moving from the Raiders to the Jets along with a seventh-round pick. In return, the Raiders received a sixth-round pick in next year’s draft.
