Early Wednesday morning, a 911 call was placed to police from Sugar Ray Leonard’s security team. The call set off a response at Leonard’s home in Los Angeles.
Law enforcement says Daniel Ray Leonard, 25, allegedly tried to enter the residence by turning exterior door handles. When officers arrived and met with security, Daniel was located by the pool house and was promptly arrested.
Daniel’s arrest ultimately came down to a restraining order—he was taken into custody for violating it. The situation then sharpened into something even more personal: the suspect wasn’t just known to the family. Daniel Ray Leonard is Sugar Ray Leonard’s youngest of four children. His mother is Bernadette Robi.
The family ties sit beside the boxing legacy that has defined Sugar Ray Leonard’s name for decades. The 70-year-old Leonard fought through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s before retiring in 1997. His record stands at 36-3-1, and he earned championships in several weight classes.
The boxing legend’s team was reached out to for comment, but no response has been received so far.
