Passenger dies after speeding McLaren hits two cars

passenger killed – A passenger died after a speeding 2019 McLaren struck two vehicles in Kansas City, Kansas, pushing the car into a pickup truck. The driver and others involved were taken to medical centers, but no injuries were reported for the other two drivers.

Just after 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, a speeding sports car slammed into traffic near 34th and Merriam Ln. in Kansas City, Kansas—first hitting an SUV at the moment it tried to turn, then striking a pickup that had been stopped behind it.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash involved a 2019 McLaren 570S driven west on Merriam Ln. by Sidney Kile, 28, of Olathe. Troopers say Kile was speeding when he struck a 2017 Honda Accord driven by Anne Wohl, 37, of Lenexa.

First responders said Wohl was attempting to turn north onto 34th St. when the impact happened.

The patrol reports that the force of the collision pushed the McLaren into a 2018 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Aaron Stich, 47, of Brookline Station, which had been stopped behind Wohl’s vehicle.

Kile’s passenger, Roger Stroble, 74, of Kansas City, Kansas, was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Medical staff later pronounced Stroble deceased.

Troopers also say Kile was taken to KU Medical Center with suspected serious injuries.

Authorities report that Wohl and Stich were not injured in the crash. They also say all parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
