At Disneyland, the summer buzz is still settling in—but the park is already turning its head toward Halloween.

Disneyland Halloween Time kicks off on August 21 and runs through October 31, 2026, with Plaza de la Familia continuing through November 2. And for guests trying to decide how hard to commit. the big after-hours pull is Oogie Boogie Bash—an event that runs on 33 nights. with tickets priced from $139 to $199 per person starting mid August.

The headline is the lineup, but the emotional weight sits in the trade. The park’s Halloween upgrades are landing at the same moment something familiar is stepping aside.

For guests weighing the cost, Oogie Boogie Bash is framed as a high-commitment night. The limited-capacity. after-hours event includes the Villains Grove walk-through experience at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. treat trails hosted by new and returning villains. and the rare opportunity to dress up in costume in the parks—even for adults. Party tickets also include admission to Disney California Adventure three hours before the starting time. and Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads.

The park is also adding a Halloween street party—one that’s meant to fill the place of what’s missing. New to this year’s lineup is Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party. taking the place of the Frightfully Fun Parade. The Frightfully Fun Parade has been sidelined due to construction on the upcoming Coco-themed boat ride attraction.

Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake is described as a spirited séance and swinging wake filled with happy haunts and ghostly dancing.

Halloween Time’s core offerings will return and expand in the dark. The season features returning favorites like the long-running Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular at Disneyland and themed attraction overlays including Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark. Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. Luigi’s Honkin Haul-O Ween. and Haunted Mansion Holiday featuring the annual gingerbread house in the ballroom.

If you want “the maximum” Halloween extras—treat trails, walk-throughs, and maximum character encounters—the after-hours Halloween party at Disney California Adventure is also part of the conversation.

But the question hanging over all of it is simple: when ticket prices reach up to $199 per person, will guests feel the trade is worth it—especially as the parade slot gets replaced by a new concept?

Disruptions and details are not confined to Halloween planning.

With Halloween kicking off on August 21. the Paint the Night parade and Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular were scheduled to go dark after August 9. They’re being extended until August 20. so there won’t be a gap between the end of the Disneyland 70th celebration and the start of the spooky season. World of Color – ONE is also returning for a limited time on Aug. 10 and continues through the Halloween season.

Still, the park is left without a parade—daytime or nighttime—after the summer transitions.

While that timing matters for guests, construction matters for the park’s footprint. Cast have been notified that the parking lot on Manchester—used by cast members of the parks and for Team Disney Anaheim employees—will close in June or July to make way for a future parking structure and new Harbor gateway to the parks. Disneyland hasn’t put out anything official about the timeline. but permits have been filed with the city and the park expects to start seeing dirt moving around soon.

The parking structure will be built behind the Harbor Blvd hotels. with a bridge spanning Harbor and connecting guests to the Esplanade. A new gateway will welcome guests as they cross the bridge. All of it is part of the long-discussed DisneylandForward project. which will ultimately rework vast areas. particularly on the fringes of the resort.

As all of that quietly reshapes arrival and routes, Disneyland’s Halloween pitch is also evolving—at the exact moment guests are being asked to pay more for a packed after-hours night.

And even beyond the Halloween decision, there’s a sense of how the resort is spending its attention: construction, refurbished spaces, and new food collectibles all crisscross the same week.

Avengers Campus marked its fifth anniversary on June 4 with more than two dozen characters appearing for a day of surprise meet-and-greets. Guests ran into Eternals. Guardians of the Galaxy. and the Marvels. along with rarer visitors like Scarlet Witch. Agatha Harkness. and Mr. Knight from Moon Knight. The biggest surprise of the day was Kate Bishop from Hawkeye. with Thursday marking her first time ever meeting guests in the land. The anniversary also sits alongside a major Avengers Campus expansion under construction with two new attractions in the works. No opening date has been announced, but the expansion is described as approximately doubling the land’s capacity. The D-Ticket Flight Lab attraction is described as training guests aboard robotic arms that will flail them about. and the big new E-Ticket will put guests in the path of Thanos as the Avengers do their thing.

Meanwhile, refurbishments and construction remain uneven across the resort. The last big scrim is down on Main Street U.S.A. with just a small bit tucked away behind Refreshment Corner near the crowd overflow gate behind Main Street. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is still in the thick of its refurbishment project. with one section of the space mural sold black while waiting for the mural cling to be reapplied. The shop reopened with new Toy Story 5 merch. and the Little Green Alien mural at the back of the store is held together with clear tape. In New Orleans Square. work continues on Pirates of the Caribbean and also on the Rivers of America. with even the retaining walls around Pirates getting a touch-up. Fantasmic fountains are still under refurbishment. though the water effects on the island just behind the Fantasmic refurb are working again.

At Downtown Disney, the Earl of Sandwich and Gordon Ramsay’s “The Carnaby” building at the west end of the district is nearly complete, while Porto’s still has a very, very long way to go.

The Disneyland Refurbishment Calendar. updated 6/5/26. lists Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind as heading into its fifth month of refurbishment with no end date announced. It also notes that Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and King Arthur Carrousel did get return dates. Currently under refurbishment are Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind: January 5 – TBA; Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters: April 13 – June 11; Silly Symphony Swings: April 27 – TBA; Pirates of the Caribbean: May 4 – TBA; and Chiller at Paradise Gardens Park: May 19 – June 6. And then there are the everyday reasons people visit right now: popcorn buckets, new sippers, and limited-time deals. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Cars. a new Lightning McQueen Bucket starts at Disneyland Resort starting June 9. with a limit of two per person per transaction. On June 18. the Bullseye Bucket gallops into Disneyland Resort. also with a limit of two per person per transaction. and Woody toy not included.

The Louis Sipper is available at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. Refreshment Corner. Tiana’s Palace. Churros & Lemonade in Bayou Country. and Churros & Popcorn near Haunted Mansion. with a limit of 2 per person per transaction. The price for the Louis Sipper is $29.79 at Hungry Bear Barbecue. Jolly Holiday. Refreshment Corner. and Tiana’s Palace. with mobile order available. but it was priced higher at the churro carts.

All of it adds up to a resort that never stops moving—toward Halloween, toward new attractions, and toward the next phase of how guests will get in and move around.

But if there’s one decision guests are being asked to make now, it’s whether Oogie Boogie Bash justifies the cost—especially with the parade slot already changing. The Frightfully Fun Parade is gone, at least for this year, and Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake is stepping in.

Halloween Time may be creeping in, but the stakes feel immediate: the park wants guests to plan far ahead, pay up for after-hours access, and still accept that a familiar daytime spectacle won’t be waiting for them when they arrive.

  1. So they got rid of the Frightfully Fun Parade and now it’s just “Mad At Disneyland”?? That sounds like a theme park complaint not an actual parade lol. But of course the tickets go up too.

  2. Wait reply to what now? Anyway Magic Key people get pre-sale June 16-17, that’s like next week? They always say “upgrades” but it’s really just Disney finding new ways to charge. Also why is it 33 nights—like do they run out of Oogie Boogie.

  3. I’m confused… the headline says parade disappears but then it’s a daytime lead-in swap, so is the parade gone forever or just for summer? And $139 to $199 “starting mid August” like if you buy later it’s more? Sounds like they’re pricing people out and calling it Halloween season. Also “Plaza de la Familia through Nov 2” like did they extend it just to keep crowds from leaving?
