Cam Jordan returns to Saints on final one-year deal
Cam Jordan is back with the New Orleans Saints after signing a one-year contract he described as his final NFL deal, a decision tied to the belief he could finish his 16-year career with one organization.
Cam Jordan stepped back into the Saints fold on Tuesday, returning to New Orleans with a one-year deal that he said will be his last contract in the NFL.
The timing matters because it closes a rare chapter in league history: if Jordan’s plan holds, the defensive end will spend his entire 16-year career with the same team. For Saints fans, the appeal isn’t just football—it’s the sense of a career that never had to be torn apart.
Jordan made that clear in a press conference on Tuesday. explaining that the conversations with General Manager Mickey Loomis helped him get past “a couple of bumps” in the negotiating process. What finally tipped the scales wasn’t performance or a specific dollar number. but the lifestyle and meaning behind staying put.
“What it comes down to is lifestyle,” Jordan said, via the team’s website. “It’s the idea that I could have played for the same team for my entire career. The loyalty streak has always run deep with me. and I think a couple of years ago me and Mickey sat down and it was like. ‘Look. man. the way you’ve played. the way you’ve handled yourself. you’ll always have a job here.’ Now. it may not be what I think I’m worth or whatever it is. but it’s always been the idea that we’ve had an open line of communication. This is where I wanted to be, and [I] got back here.”.
Jordan acknowledged that his legacy as a Saints great was secure even without another deal this year. Going out as a lifelong member of the team, though, strengthens the place he already holds in the franchise’s history.
For the Saints, it’s also a message delivered in plain terms: the door was open, the conversations kept moving, and Jordan’s final step back wasn’t about changing direction—it was about returning to the place he wanted to finish.

So he’s just retiring? about time lol
I’m glad he’s back but this sounds like player PR. “Lifestyle”?? like the money doesn’t matter at all cmon. Also I thought he already had a deal or something.
Wait did he sign with the Panthers first or was that somebody else. I swear I saw a headline earlier saying he was done, then suddenly he’s “final one-year deal.” Either way, Mickey Loomis always plays chess I guess.
This is why Saints fans are always like “legend” “loyalty” whatever. One-year contracts just feel like a loop though… like he’s gonna retire mid-season or get injured and then the whole “career with one team” dream is over. But hey I’m happy for him I guess.
