Appili Therapeutics, NIAID, VXV-01, Notice of Termination for Convenience, contract termination, anti-infectives, metronidazole suspension, tularemia vaccine candidate, cutaneous leishmaniasis, tularemia
So they just ended it? Smh
“For convenience” sounds like they didn’t find anything useful. If this was about resistant infections, why stop? Also metronidazole is kind of old right? Feels like politics more than science.
Wait, is this the tularemia thing? I saw somewhere that tularemia is like the next bioweapon scare and now they’re cancelling contracts so… does that mean they’re giving up? I’m not saying it’s true, just seems weird timing.
NIAID ends contract with Appili for convenience… okay but whose convenience lol. They mention metronidazole suspension and some topical parasite cream for leishmaniasis, but then it also says serious biological weapon threat. So does this mean they failed the vaccine trials or they decided to pivot to something else like right away? I hate when headlines make it sound like they just dropped the whole project.
