This offseason, the Baltimore Ravens rebuilt the interior of their offensive line and retooled their pass rush – and turned over virtually their entire coaching staff. Over the past few months, those coaches have installed an entirely new offensive scheme while drilling down on the details on defense. Young playmakers like Ja’Kobi Lane and Mike Green turned heads in training camp, while undrafted gems Joe Fagnano and Ethan Burke impressed enough in the preseason to enter the roster spot.
But with Week 1 right around the corner, it’s time to look away from the headlines and the highlights and talk about some Ravens who are flying under the radar heading into the regular season.
Nikhil’s take: Over the course of the preseason, every player gets talked about at some point. But discussions regarding Baltimore’s backfield focused on future Hall of Famer Derrick Henry, owner Steve Bisciotti’s personal draft pick Adam Randall, and on-the-bubble youngster Rasheen Ali. Lost in the conversation was veteran Justice Hill, who has been an afterthought this year after missing the second half of the 2025 season with a neck injury.
But Hill has quietly averaged 4.8 yards per carry and 8.3 yards per reception since 2023 and is poised to continue serving as the Ravens’ third-down back this year. Henry will no doubt get the lion’s share of the work on the ground, but offensive coordinator Declan Doyle will likely give Hill opportunities on screens and isolation routes against linebackers. If the 28-year-old can remain efficient with his touches, protect Jackson in the pocket, and make plays when his number is called, he will be a key cog in the 2026 offense.
On the other side of the ball, defensive tackle Travis Jones is simply not getting enough love. He was the Ravens’ second-best defender last year behind Kyle Hamilton and singlehandedly held the defensive line together whenever he was on the field. But with the arrival of Trey Hendrickson and the return of Nnamdi Madubuike, Baltimore’s more athletic, stat-stuffing edge rushers have been the main talking points.
But Jones stands to benefit from the focus on his new teammates. If opposing offenses are more worried about the bigger names, they might leave Jones in 1-on-1 situations more often and hope their blocker can lose slowly before being overwhelmed. But the 26-year-old refined his pass rush repertoire after a few years in the league and should be able to collapse pockets consistently. Having Calais Campbell and Broderick Washington back in the fold will also ease Jones’ workload, which skyrocketed to a 70% defensive snap share and 889 total snaps last year.
