Nick Pasqual sentenced to 32 years for assault

Nick Pasqual, an actor known for appearing on “How I Met Your Mother,” was sentenced Tuesday to a term of 32 years to life after a jury convicted him on attempted murder and related charges tied to stabbing and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Nick Pasqual’s sentencing came with a clear message from Los Angeles prosecutors: the case would not end with a verdict. On Tuesday. June 2. the “How I Met Your Mother” alum was given a 32-year-to-life sentence after a jury found him guilty of attempted murder and multiple other crimes connected to a domestic-violence attack.
The sentence followed a conviction in May on all six counts. including one count of attempted murder. with findings that he used a deadly weapon during the domestic-violence incident. The other counts included one count of forcible rape; three felony counts of injuring a spouse. fiancée or partner; and one count of felony first-degree burglary with a person in the home. records from Los Angeles reflect.
Pasqual’s conviction centered on events that began in January 2024 and ran through May 23, 2024, when he broke into the home of makeup artist Allie Shehorn in Los Angeles around 4:30 a.m. During the attack, prosecutors said he stabbed her more than 20 times.
Shehorn was hospitalized and underwent multiple surgeries for critical injuries. A GoFundMe page launched at the time described procedures including repairs to severed tendons in her right arm and surgery to close wounds in her neck.
District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said at sentencing that Shehorn survived and then returned to court to testify about the brutality she endured. In a statement shared in connection with the case. Hochman said her testimony was crucial in securing the guilty verdict that would keep Pasqual from hurting anyone else.
Hochman also framed the prosecution’s outcome as a warning about domestic violence. He said the case highlights “painful reality” that domestic violence thrives when victims live in fear and stay silent. He thanked prosecutors for enabling survivors to be heard, and he said accountability is not a promise but a reality.
After fleeing California. Pasqual was later detained at a U.S.-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca. Texas. before being extradited to Los Angeles. Hochman’s office previously confirmed the earlier detention. Pasqual pleaded not guilty last March. and after a two-week trial. the jury deliberated for an hour and a half before reaching its verdict.
The court record also places the case against the backdrop of Pasqual’s prior attempts to stay free. He had been known to television audiences through a small part as Ted’s student Will in the “How I Met Your Mother” Season 7 episode “Field Trip.” His acting credits also include uncredited roles in Zach Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” and the Steve Jobs biopic “Jobs. ” and he starred in the 2009 Mischa Barton film “Homecoming.”.
