Elon Musk’s latest post on X landed like a match tossed into dry air. In response to criticism tied to his transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, the right-wing billionaire simply typed “true.”
The reply came after an X post circulated online citing Wilson’s recent modeling campaign and asserting that “if not for Vivian. Elon Musk never would have gotten involved. never would have purchased Twitter. Kamala Harris would be President and the Left-wing would have total instrumental control over the construction of Skynet.”.
For many people online, the problem wasn’t the debate about politics. It was the framing. They pointed to how Musk has repeatedly linked Wilson’s transition—an experience that Wilson says is her own—to his own shift.
Musk, 54, has previously blamed the “woke mind virus” for Wilson’s coming out as trans and also tied it to inspiring his far-right pivot. That pivot, in turn, saw him become one of President Donald Trump’s biggest donors and briefly make him the head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Wilson is the eldest of Musk’s six children with his first wife, Justine Musk. Musk and Justine Musk divorced in 2008.
