The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where an autopsy will take place. A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support his family, and the coroner has been notified. The driver of the jeep, a man aged in his 80s, was also taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The road is currently closed, and local diversions are in place. Gardaí are now appealing to anyone
who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. A Garda spokesperson said: “Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork between 7:15pm and 8:00pm on Saturday 4th July 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. “Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on (022) 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
