In a social media post, Miley Cyrus reflected on one of the last conversations she had with Dolly Parton before her death.

Miley Cyrus has gone by many names, but now she’s taking it back to the basics.
Ahead of her new album “Bass Persuades,” the three-time Grammy-winning pop singer and former child star has seemingly changed her stage name, going simply by “Miley,” according to a news release.
“Multi-platinum global superstar Miley has officially announced her highly anticipated 10th studio album, ‘Bass Persuades,'” the Sept. 1 release reads, notably omitting Cyrus’ famous surname. “Miley will also make her return to the stage, announcing a two-night stand at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 16 and Oct. 18.”
Cyrus also seemed to signal the rebrand on social media. As of publication, the singer’s official Instagram page no longer features her last name. One of her most recent posts, a crimson-filtered close-up photo, included the self-titled caption, “Miley.”
Miley Cyrus new name change revealed
Cyrus, daughter of country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus and entertainment manager Tish Cyrus, was born Destiny Hope Cyrus in November 1992.
As a child, Cyrus was given the nickname “Smiley” for her bubbly demeanor, and the name was eventually shortened to Miley. She kept the family moniker when she launched her own Hollywood career in her teens, landing the title role in the Disney Channel sitcom “Hannah Montana.”
Cyrus’ character on the show, schoolgirl turned pop star Miley Stewart, was named after her. In 2008, the actress-singer legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus announces new album ‘Bass Persuades’
Cyrus’ latest musical venture, “Bass Persuades,” comes a year after the release of her ninth album, “Something Beautiful.” USA TODAY music critic Melissa Ruggieri praised the album’s eclectic sound, writing that Cyrus has evolved “into one of the most charismatic singers and intriguing songwriters of her generation.”
“The 13 tracks on ‘Something Beautiful’ revolve around customary themes of heartbreak and trauma, but Cyrus, with her distinctive raspy voice set to soar mode, also offers shades of healing and optimism,” Ruggieri wrote. “She sews pop bangers with shimmering ballads, using buzzy electronic instrumentals to create an art rock/pop opera best listened to in its entirety.”
Cyrus opened up about the emotional inspiration for “Bass Persuades” in an Instagram post Tuesday, Sept. 1.
“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on,” Cyrus wrote. “It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.”

Miley Cyrus Hollywood Bowl concerts
Tickets for Cyrus’ Hollywood Bowl concerts will first go on sale Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PST), kicking off with the American Express presale. Additional presales will take place throughout the week.
Fans can also sign up for the artist presale, which begins Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PST).
The general public sale begins Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PST) via the official Ticketmaster website.
