Melanie Moreno enters Love Island USA with spice

Days before Love Island USA returns on June 2, 2026, Melanie Moreno’s preview is already sparking reactions—especially her take on dating, her pushback on the label “girl’s girl,” and how she talks openly about fun, commitment, and sex.

By the time Melanie Moreno stepped into the spotlight for Love Island USA’s new season preview, she didn’t sound like someone trying to play a role. She sounded like someone with a personal checklist—fun on the outside, real intentions underneath.

Moreno is 24 years old and from Los Angeles, California. Her ideal neon sign reads: “You’ll Have Fun.” She works as a manager at a bikini store. and in her own words. she wants “to fall in love in the villa.” When she talked about her love life. she compared it to a bikini from the damage bin—something that’s been through it. but still has a place in the story.

She also brings a clear cultural identity to the pitch. Moreno is a self-proclaimed Dominicana, and she said her first language is Spanish. Her mom is her best friend, and she explained, “She’s the reason I’m bubbling.”

What Moreno says she’s looking for is more specific than the usual sound bites. She wants a family, and she’s blunt about the direction she’s aiming for: “I’m looking for an actual relationship. I find fun and commitment.”

Then there’s her view on how women should show up for each other—one that’s already resonating online. Moreno said she sees her friends as her sisters and doesn’t use the term “girl’s girl.” She added. “Any real woman who loves women never has to say I’m a girl’s girl. It just shows on the way you behave and the way you show up for them.”.

The previews don’t stop at feelings. Moreno said she loves to cook for her man, and described herself as old-fashioned—then she undercut the romance with her own kind of honesty. She’s a Scorpio and said, “we’re a little freaky,” while adding that sex is important to her and “it has to be good.”

It didn’t take long for fans to respond once her profile started circulating on the show’s official social media accounts. On Instagram. one user wrote. “I love that she isn’t a girls girl because any real woman that loves women doesn’t have to preach that she is a girls girl. and she reminds me of someone who isn’t afraid to step on toes. I love her energy, and so far she’s one of my top favorites this season.”.

Another comment pointed back to what fans believe went wrong last year. A second user added, “I love that she clocked the “girls girl” thing because that’s what sabotaged half of last season.”

And not everyone is focused on labels as much as the vibe. A third fan shared, “I like her! She seems genuine and down to earth! Hope the guys in the villa are good enough for her.”

Love Island USA begins June 2, 2026, streaming exclusively on Peacock. For Moreno, the timing matters—because in a show built on fast connections, she’s already signaling that she wants both: a good time and something that lasts.

  1. Love Island people always say they want “real commitment” and then it’s chaos two episodes later. But I mean… she’s kinda saying the right words, I guess.

  2. Dominicana and Spanish first language and “bubbling”?? Sounds like she’s gonna be the loud one that causes drama. Also isn’t “girl’s girl” like, a compliment? I don’t really get why everyone’s mad.

  3. I swear the preview is always edited to make someone look like husband material. “Fun and commitment” like… okay sure. And comparing dating to a bikini from the damage bin like that’s supposed to be romantic??? also I thought Love Island was just hookups not “actual relationship” lol.
