Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $368 million for June 5

Ahead of the Friday, June 5 drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot is $368 million, with a cash value of $163.6 million. Winners would choose between a lump-sum payment or annual payments, and the next drawing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9.
The Mega Millions jackpot is rising again just as Friday’s drawing gets within hours. With the $368 million prize on the line for June 5, the cash value is listed at $163.6 million—an amount that would change a winner’s life overnight, depending on which payout option they choose.
Players heading into the Friday, June 5 drawing will get two ways to take the money if the ticket matches all six winning numbers. One option is a one-time, lump-sum cash payment. The other is an immediate payment followed by annual checks, with each annual payment 5% larger than the previous year.
The last time the Mega Millions jackpot was won was on March 17, when a $60 million jackpot was taken by someone from Ohio—more than two months ago. Now, with Friday’s drawing approaching, attention is turning to the numbers and the size of the potential payday.
Winning numbers for the June 5 drawing are scheduled to be posted after the draw at 11 p.m. ET.
The next Mega Millions drawing is set for Tuesday, June 9 at 11 p.m. ET.
Mega Millions players across the country also keep an eye on how big past jackpots have been. The top Mega Millions jackpots listed include $1.602 billion on Aug. 8, 2023 in Florida; $1.537 billion on Oct. 23, 2018 in South Carolina; $1.348 billion on Jan. 1, 2023 in Maine; $1.337 billion on July 29, 2022 in Illinois; and $1.269 billion on Dec. 27, 2024 in California. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $5. Players pick six numbers—five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 24 (the gold Mega Ball). A jackpot win requires matching all six winning numbers in the drawing.
If more than one jackpot winner exists in a drawing, the jackpot prize will be shared.
To play. tickets must be purchased. which can be done at locations such as local convenience stores. gas stations. or grocery stores. In some states, tickets can also be bought online. After purchase, players select six numbers. If choosing numbers feels like too much. players can use “Quick Pick” or “Easy Pick. ” letting a computer randomly generate the numbers.
Mega Millions tickets now include a built-in multiplier that increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five, or 10 times. Previously, players had to pay an extra dollar to add the “Megaplier.”
At this point, everything narrows to one question: on Friday, will any ticket match all six numbers, turning a $368 million jackpot into a new reality—either as $163.6 million in cash or as an immediate payment followed by annual checks growing 5% each year?

368M is insane… I’m still not gonna win though lol.
Cash value 163.6 sounds like way less than 368? Like what is even the point then. My uncle says always take cash but idk.
Wait so they pay 5% bigger every year? That’s like a savings account, but it says immediate payment too… so do you still get hit with taxes twice or is that not how it works? Also the numbers get posted at 11pm ET, so like what time is that my phone? I’m in the Midwest.
I swear it was just won like last week?? March 17 Ohio, but I heard on TikTok it was California or something. Anyway 5% larger checks sounds fake, they’re just trying to get you to pick the “annual” option. If someone I know buys tickets I’m gonna yell at them to take lump sum.
