Malawi education reforms take center stage at World Forum

Malawi’s Minister of Education, Bright Msaka, is set to showcase the nation's educational progress at the upcoming Education World Forum in London.

Malawi’s education reforms have gained international recognition, as the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bright Msaka, is set to present the country’s progress at the Education World Forum in London, United Kingdom (UK), from 17 to 19 May 2026 alongside ministers from several countries.. The Education World Forum is the world’s largest annual gathering of education and skills ministers, which is hosted by the UK’s Department for Education.. In a statement from the British

High Commission, Msaka will join a global panel session on 19 May titled “Building 21st-century learning on strong foundations”, which will explore how education systems can strengths early amd foundational learning, while connecting it to the skills children will need for a rapidly changing world.. Msaka said the invitation means that Malawi’s reforms in education shows what becomes possible she the government takes full ownership of change.. “The foundations we build for our children on

their earliest years of school are the foundations on which everything else depends — their prospects, their confidence and their contribution to Malawi’s future.. That is a message I am proud to carry to London,” he said.. Acting British High Commissioner and Development Director, Ben Nicholson, said the UK is proud to host the Education World Forum and welcome Malawi as a partner.. “Minister Msaka’s presence on the global panel is a reflection of the

serioys, evidence-based work that Malawi is doing, and we are proud to be part of that journey together,” Nicholson said.. The Minister’s programme at the event will also include the participation in the African Ministerial Breakfast on 18 May, and he will also join the Ministerial Taskforce on Ending Violence in, around and through schools.. In July 2026, Malawi will host the Africa Foundational Learning Exchange.
