New set photos from Netflix’s live-action Eloise adaptation show newcomer Mae Schenk filming outside Manhattan’s iconic Plaza Hotel, bringing the beloved character to life in a red ensemble as production continues.
On Friday, May 29, Mae Schenk stepped onto the Plaza Hotel’s famous red-carpeted entrance in a look made for mischief. Fresh set photos from Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Eloise capture the newcomer filming scenes in Manhattan as production continues in New York City.
Schenk wore a red wool military-style coat paired with a matching bellhop cap and classic Mary Jane shoes. Between takes, she smiled on location near the iconic hotel’s exterior—an outfit and setting that instantly echoes the world Eloise fans know from the beloved children’s books.
The Plaza Hotel, after all, has long been synonymous with Eloise, the character who “famously lives at the landmark New York City property” across the book series. With Schenk now in place for the live-action film, the character’s most recognizable home is getting center stage again.
The upcoming film is directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Sherman-Palladino co-wrote the screenplay as well.
Ryan Reynolds is also attached to the project—not in a hero role, but as the film’s villain. The cast further includes Sally Hawkins, Victor Garber, David Haig, and Max Casella. Plot details remain under wraps. but Netflix executive Hannah Minghella previously shared her excitement about bringing the iconic character back to audiences.

Earlier set photos from the production also showed Isaac Bae filming scenes alongside Mae Schenk, and these latest images add another glimpse at Schenk as she brings the character’s signature look—and spirit—into the real world.
