Mackenzie Shirilla Talks Life Coaching From Prison

In an audio call obtained by MISRYOUM, Mackenzie Shirilla tells her mom, Natalie, she wants to become a life coach after prison. Shirilla is serving two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life in Ohio for the 2023 crash that killed Dominic Russo and Davion Fl
Mackenzie Shirilla’s days behind bars aren’t only about waiting—they’re also about planning.
In audio of a call she made to her mom, Natalie, the incarcerated Mackenzie says, “I WANNA BE A LIFE COACH WHEN I’M OUT.” The brief exchange, obtained by MISRYOUM, shows her talking about what she wants her next purpose to be if she ever leaves prison.
Natalie tells her daughter she’s been through an incredible amount and suggests those experiences could one day allow her to help others. Mackenzie, who is serving two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life, seems to embrace the idea.
The conversation also comes in contrast to other calls that have circulated—ones where Shirilla talked with her mom about boys she was speaking to, and how thinking about the fatal crash makes her want to puke.
Shirilla remains incarcerated in Ohio following her 2023 conviction in the crash that killed Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. Prosecutors said the crash was no accident. She is the subject of Netflix’s hit documentary “The Crash,” which has reignited public interest in her case. She is fighting her conviction and maintains she’s innocent.
For now, any vision of life coaching has to stay on the far side of the calendar. Shirilla isn’t eligible for parole until 2037, but in the call, she still frames the future like something she can work toward.
