Madonna Covers One Month Rent For Musicians in NYC

Madonna covers – Madonna is partnering with Bilt to cover one month of studio rent for musicians currently leasing space at The Music Building in Manhattan—and Bilt members will get access to exclusive Confessions II album release parties on July 3 in NYC, L.A., and Chicago.

Madonna’s name can draw headlines, but this time it’s rent money—directly tied to the place where her own career began.

The pop icon is teaming up with loyalty program Bilt to cover one month of studio rent for all musicians who are currently leasing space at The Music Building in Manhattan. The gesture lands with extra weight because Madonna once used that same rehearsal facility herself.

She told Bilt that she ended up at The Music Building after an accident in the garment district—an incident she described as an electrical fire that started while she was illegally living in a building there. In her account, she said she woke up to flames after using space heaters.

“I was sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag so I surrounded myself with some space heaters and I started an electrical fire. But I was sleeping, so I woke up and was surrounded by flames.”

For musicians trying to stay afloat, that context matters. The Music Building has been a working rehearsal space—exactly the kind of support system that can turn a few weeks of instability into time to write, practice, and keep shows on the calendar.

Bilt members will also be able to tap into what’s next: exclusive Confessions II album release parties on July 3 in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

  1. I don’t get why this is news lol. Rent gets paid for people all the time, especially in NYC. Also “Bilt” sounds like a bank thing so maybe it’s not even free free?

  2. Wait, Madonna said she started an electrical fire with space heaters while illegally living in a building?? Like… that’s the story we’re supposed to vibe with? I mean cool she’s helping now but that detail is wild.

  3. This feels like marketing. Like okay she covers one month rent for the Music Building but then everyone has to be a Bilt member and go to the album party July 3 in Chicago/LA/NYC. Not saying it’s bad, just kinda seems like a trade. Also wasn’t she already famous when she started there? So how is it “directly tied” unless the accident happened there too or whatever.
