Mabrey didn’t just set a number—she tied history to it. She scored the game’s first points with a fadeaway jumper. then punctuated the night with a 3-ball that tied the WNBA record for the most points in a single game (53). She finished with nine 3-pointers. a total that also tied the league record for the most triples in a single game.
After the final buzzer, the celebration didn’t stay on the court. Angel Reese posted on social media, promising Mabrey a special reward: “Yeah, I guess Marina deserves a ride in the RR.” In her reply, Mabrey said, “Finallyyyyy.”
Reese’s gesture carried extra meaning because the two had already shared a locker room. Reese and Mabrey previously spent time together as teammates in Chicago during Reese’s rookie season.
