New lung cancer test could shift diagnosis years earlier

The lung cancer test has the potential to detect the disease months or years earlier than current techniques. While more work is needed it is one of a spectrum of emerging diagnostic tools revolutionising treatment. The

immunotherapy injection, being rolled out on the NHS, works by telling the body’s immune system to recognise and kill cancer cells and is powerful against several types of the disease, including lung, breast, head and neck, and cervical cancer. 1. Wait is this the same thing as that Keytruda drip? Like they’re just speeding up when people get the medicine? Either way I’m glad it’s earlier.

  2. Months or years earlier sounds great but also I’m skeptical. If they can detect it earlier then why do people still get late-stage diagnosis? Seems like the real issue is insurance and cost, not the test.

  3. I saw something about a one-minute injection and more than a dozen cancers?? Doesn’t even sound real, like are they just skipping the drip and calling it a test? Also lung cancer test… does that mean they inject you to test you? I’m confused. Still though if it helps with earlier treatment I guess that’s good.
