The transfer window has barely had time to settle into motion and already the big names are lining up for deals.
RB Leipzig have opened enquiries for Everton striker Thierno Barry. Everton, for their part, have been looking at the forward market and would aim to recover the £27m fee they paid for Barry from Villarreal last summer if talks progress.
Everton have also been weighing other options in attack, including Liam Delap at Chelsea and William Osula of Newcastle. Barry, 23, showed his value on the Premier League stage last season, scoring eight goals in 41 appearances for Everton.
Across the Channel, English clubs are also keeping a close watch on Belgian giant Union SG. Ross Sykes. a central defender. has attracted interest from home and abroad. with multiple clubs in the Premier League and Championship monitoring his situation. Sykes has been in the Belgian Pro League since 2022, winning the title and two Belgian Cups. He has also featured in the Champions League and played a key role in Union SG’s push that came within touching distance of consecutive league titles.
Clubs in Germany and Italy are among those looking at Sykes, too, with Panathinaikos registering interest. He came through at Accrington Stanley. Union SG are expected to want a fee in the region of £2.5million for a player who regularly finds the net from set pieces and has impressive defensive statistics.
While Leipzig and Union SG generate their own pull, Madrid are turning the focus to Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid are preparing a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Interest in the Argentina international has been tracked for some time. but Madrid have also been assessing other possibilities. including West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes—linked to Manchester United’s interest.
Offers are expected to arrive in the coming days as Jose Mourinho’s squad overhaul continues. United have been attentive to Aurelien Tchouameni’s situation at the Bernabeu, even as the France international is keen to stay in Madrid. Enzo Fernandez, meanwhile, is away at the World Cup with Argentina.
Liverpool’s window business has already produced a concrete outcome. The Premier League club have agreed to pay a £34.5m clause for Victor Munoz from Osasuna after beating off Newcastle United to the move on Wednesday.
Liverpool will pay the fee in two instalments. The agreement follows extensive and discreet work on the Spain winger, which ended with Munoz committing to Liverpool despite rival interest from Newcastle, Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen.
By the time the next round of updates comes in, the shape of the summer is already clear: multiple clubs are moving at once, with Everton, Real Madrid and Liverpool each trying to turn interest into momentum before the market shifts again.
