Leeds press for Shea Charles as bids collide

Leeds interest – Leeds United have moved in on Southampton midfielder Shea Charles while making a push for free agent Julian Brandt. Hull City’s £15m bid for Toulouse striker Emersonn was rejected, with Derby County set to complete a deal for RB Salzburg midfielder Bobby Clark

By the time the summer window opened for business, clubs were already moving like they had no time to waste. Leeds United were among the first to make their intentions feel clear: they have stepped up interest in Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. and they are preparing a bold attempt to sign free agent former Germany international Julian Brandt.

Charles, a Northern Ireland international, is valued at over £20m. Leeds’ interest isn’t happening in isolation, either. Everton and Atalanta have also drawn attention to the midfielder in recent months, as the race for a player rated so highly begins to narrow.

Leeds’ other move carries its own kind of urgency. Brandt, 30, has flirted with a Premier League switch in the past, including links to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool. The forward can play on either flank or behind the striker. and he scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season. putting a clear attacking edge behind the conversation.

The same transfer day also brought a sharp reminder that not every bid lands cleanly. Hull City’s Premier League return will have to wait a little longer for striker targets after their £15million proposal for Toulouse striker Emersonn was rejected.

Hull are exploring a range of options as they plan for next season. and Emersonn’s profile still fits what they appear to want: the versatile Brazilian forward is 21. and he’s been described as a player with strength. pace. and age on his side. The forward only joined Toulouse last summer from Turkish side Goztepe for £2.8m. and with Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco also asking about him. Hull’s interest is likely to become harder to shake.

Derby County, meanwhile, look set to get a deal over the line. The Championship club have agreed a package worth around £6million for RB Salzburg midfielder Bobby Clark. The former Liverpool and Newcastle academy graduate is in the UK and is set to have a medical on Monday after spending last season on loan at Derby. where he was named the club’s young player of the year.

The pattern across these moves is straightforward: Leeds are sharpening their pursuit of a high-value midfielder while trying to land a Premier League-ready attacker in Brandt, Hull have been blocked on a striker bid for Emersonn, and Derby are closing quickly for Clark as their squad takes shape.

For reference. the window chatter also included these earlier calendar points: Liverpool put a £85million price tag on RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande on Thursday. Derby looked to be in the mix for a return for ex-Liverpool star on Wednesday. Leeds considered a bid for Shea Charles on Tuesday. and Chelsea targeted Maxence Lacroix on Monday.
