Leadership Shift at Countybank

There is a bit of a shakeup over at Countybank. They just announced that David Trent is stepping into the role of Greenwood Market Executive. David Tompkins, who handles the commercial banking side of things as Senior Vice President, sounded pretty pleased about the move. He specifically mentioned how Trent has shown real grit when it comes to leadership and service.

It makes sense. Trent is a local guy—born and raised right there in Greenwood. I walked past the branch earlier this morning, and honestly, the smell of fresh coffee in the lobby really makes you forget about the heat outside for a second. He lives there with his wife, Stacey, and their four kids, so he’s deeply rooted in the area. Actually, you can tell he’s invested because he’s on everything from the Chamber of Commerce board to the South Carolina State Board of Education.

He has a stack of credentials that probably keeps a filing cabinet full. We’re talking about a graduate of The Citadel, the South Carolina Bankers School, and the state’s Criminal Justice Academy. Plus, he’s gone through the Millikin Leadership Program and a handful of other professional tracks. Or maybe it’s more than a handful, but he’s definitely qualified.

Beyond the resume, he’s currently the Chair of the Small Business Development Center Board and serves as Treasurer for the local Citadel Club. It’s a busy schedule, clearly. He’s been around the block, and the bank seems to be betting on that deep local knowledge to keep things running steady for their clients in the Upstate.

Countybank has been operating in the Upstate of South Carolina since 1933. That’s a long time. They’re leaning into this transition as a continuation of their commitment to the community. Whether this change signals a wider strategy for the firm remains to be seen, but for now, it’s a local leader taking the helm.
