Lara and Eric Trump weigh possible White House run on Hannity podcast

Sean Hannity pressed Eric and Lara Trump on whether they could pursue the presidency after Donald Trump, with both pointing to the intensity of politics and the need for their family to be ready.

On a trip that included Air Force One ferrying them as part of President Donald Trump’s China summit, Sean Hannity turned the conversation to one question that cuts straight to the future: whether Lara and Eric Trump could run for the White House.

The exchange played out during Hannity’s “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast. where Eric Trump and Lara Trump appeared together to discuss the state of American politics and the personal toll of it.. Eric Trump opened by describing politics in blunt terms, saying, “It’s a dirty, nasty world.. Politics is a dirty, nasty world, and we’ve seen the best of it.”

Hannity then pushed further, asking whether they were considering a political bid to succeed Donald Trump. “You can’t dodge. Have you ever considered running? Do you think you might run?” he said.

Eric Trump responded without fully closing the door.. “I would never rule anything out.. I can tell you we’ve seen the best of it and we’ve seen the worst of it. ” he said.. He added that for him. the trip itself had been illustrative: “This is probably the best of it—what you’re seeing right here—Air Force One flying to the other side of the world. just to be an observer. to be a fly on the wall. and to keep your father company.. I have no other role in this trip.”

But the tone shifted when he addressed what he framed as the threat environment around the family. He pointed to months of legal battles, saying he had watched “six months of courtrooms where people are trying to destroy you and your entire family.”

Eric Trump warned that any entry into politics would require readiness for attacks that extend beyond the candidate. “If you go into this game, you better be ready for it. You better have your family ready for it, because they’re coming—and they’re coming in ways you can’t even imagine,” he said.

He said his own thinking had been shaped by that experience and by how bad things could become.. “So it’s probably actually the answer he gave when he was roughly my age—if it ever got so bad. I’d throw my hat in the ring. ” Eric Trump said.. “That’s probably my answer. so long as all the other stars align—so long as your family’s ready for it. your spouse is ready for it—because you better be able to take the punches. ” he concluded.

When Hannity turned the question to Lara, the conversation sharpened again. “Spouse?” Hannity asked, then looked at her. The implication was clear: if the political game intensified, what would the next generation and the closest partners be expected to absorb.

Lara Trump. who is also described here as a Fox News colleague and who previously served as a co-chair of the RNC. offered an assessment of Donald Trump’s uniqueness and of her family’s resilience.. “Is that where I come in?. You know, they’re big shoes to fill now, Sean.. There has never been a president like Donald Trump.. There will never be another one like President Trump,” she said.

Hannity pressed her directly with a line that landed on the possibility of a first female president. “But you could be the first woman president,” he said.

Lara Trump echoed Eric’s earlier stance, describing the campaign pressure and legal scrutiny the family has already endured.. “I will echo Eric’s answer. which is I think that we have seen so many different sides of all of it. ” she said.. “We’ve seen the absolute nastiest and as bad as it can get. but you know what they did to all of us over that period of time is. if you continue to rub your hands. you’ll get a callus.. If you continue to beat somebody enough. you develop a thick skin—and we have all developed such thick skin that I almost don’t think there’s anything they can throw at any of us—anybody in our whole family—that we wouldn’t be ready for or able to handle at this point.”

The clip ends with the message that neither Eric nor Lara Trump rules out political ambition. but both frame any future decision around the intensity of confrontation they believe they already understand. and around whether their family and spouse are prepared to take the political punches that come with it.

  1. Wait so Eric is already announcing his run?? I thought this was about Lara running not both of them at the same time. somebody needs to explain how that even works because you cant have two presidents from the same family back to back like that has to be illegal or something.

  2. Hannity has been pushing this agenda for years honestly. Think about it, Fox been grooming the whole Trump family to just take over one by one and nobody talks about that. Eric said politics is dirty but then he wants to jump right in which makes zero sense to me. And the Air Force One thing, taxpayers paid for that whole trip just so Eric could quote unquote keep his dad company, that right there should be the headline not some podcast interview. I remember when they used to say nepotism was a bad thing in this country but I guess that was a different era. Anyway nobody in my town is talking about Eric or Lara running, people got real problems to worry about.

  3. Lara was already running the RNC so this is basically confirmed she is setting herself up and everyone is just pretending its not obvious. The whole podcast thing is just to make it look casual but its totally planned out. My cousin said Eric was already filing paperwork which I have not verified but it sounds right based on all this. Politics is dirty he said it himself so why would you want that for your kids I genuinely do not understand these people sometimes.
