Bauchi Police Secure Arrests Following Violent Robberies

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two suspects involved in separate armed robberies, successfully recovering a stolen motorcycle and various household valuables.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old suspect for armed robbery which caused grievous harm to a commercial motorcyclist along the Gada Maiwa–Zakara Road in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.. Habib explained that, “On May 11, 2026, the suspect, Abdullahi Gambo, male, of Kanaka Village, Ganjuwa LGA, was reported to have attacked an

okada rider with a stick and struck him on the head.. The victim sustained varying degrees of injuries and was immediately rushed to a medical facility, where he is currently responding to treatment.. “In the course of the attack, the suspect escaped with the motorcycle.. However, he was pursued by operatives of the Ningi Division and local residents, apprehended, and the stolen motorcycle was immediately recovered.” The statement revealed that during interrogation, the suspect voluntarily

confessed to the offence.. He is currently in custody and assisting investigators, while the case is being processed for onward transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.. In another development, the command also arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered stolen items following an attack on a residence in the Bara community of Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.. Habib, who said the arrest was recorded as part of

the command’s sustained fight against violent crime, explained that on May 9, 2026, a resident identified as Ibrahim of Bara Village reported to the Bara Police Outstation that five armed robbers invaded his residence in the early hours of the same day.. According to him, the assailants, armed with sticks and cutlasses, attacked the victim and carted away valuables before fleeing the scene.. He said the stolen items included a bow and arrow, five mobile

phones, two solar panels, and the sum of N422,000.. “Upon receiving the distress report, operatives attached to the Outstation, Kirfi Division, swiftly swung into action.. Through painstaking intelligence gathering and a prompt response, the team arrested one Naziru Alhaji Usman, male, aged 19, of Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet via Bara Village, Kirfi LGA,” the statement further read.. The police spokesman added that operatives recovered key exhibits linked to the crime, including a bow and arrow, a

cutlass, and a solar panel.. He noted that the suspect is currently in custody and providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.. Habib further noted that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and recover the remaining stolen valuables.. “Meanwhile, concerted efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining fleeing accomplices and recover the remaining valuables.. “The command has assured that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that all those involved are brought

to justice,” he said.. Continuing, he pointed out that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation, after which the suspect would be charged in court.. The statement also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the swift response of the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state..
