LA28 opens volunteer applications July 14 for 2028 Games

LA28 volunteer – LA28 says volunteer applications for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics will open July 14, aiming to recruit 60,000 people for roles spanning welcoming, medical support, and translation across multiple venue cities.
On July 14, LA28 will open volunteer applications for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics—and the announcement comes with a clear message: the Games can’t start without the people who help make them work.
LA28 is seeking 60,000 volunteers for an Olympics that will feature more than 11,000 athletes competing over 15 days. Volunteer work is set to range from welcoming and guiding spectators and athletes to specialized roles, including medical care and language translation.
Most volunteer opportunities during Games time will be based in the Los Angeles area. but the event footprint reaches far beyond California. Oklahoma City will host softball and canoe slalom events. Soccer preliminaries are scheduled in New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San José, and San Diego.
Applicants will be able to specify their preferred location, their special skills, and whether they want to volunteer for the Olympics or the Paralympics.
The timing matters, too. The Olympics run from July 14–30, 2028, and LA28 says the volunteer period spans March through August. The Paralympics open on Aug. 15, 2028, and close on Aug. 27, with volunteer service planned from August to September.
Games-time volunteers must be available to complete at least 10 nonconsecutive shifts, with each shift lasting approximately eight hours during each Games period. Volunteers also must be 18 years old or older.
LA28’s chief executive officer Reynold Hoover framed the effort as personal and essential. “Volunteers are the backbone of the Games,” Hoover said in a statement. “They are a friendly face who helps welcome the world. create memorable experiences and bring the Olympic and Paralympic spirit to life. Their passion and energy will help define LA28 for athletes, fans and communities across the region.”.
LA28 also pointed to momentum already building ahead of the Games. Its volunteer program started in 2025 with community-based opportunities, including beach, street and trail cleanups, habitat restoration, and fresh food packing. While volunteering in the community through the LA28 program is not required to earn a spot. LA28 said the experience can strengthen an applicant’s chance.
To keep track of the process, LA28 directs prospective volunteers to la28.org/volunteer, where they can register their interest. Those who sign up will be able to automatically receive more information about the Games-time application process when it opens.
The Olympics are only a little more than two years away. For LA28, the application opening on July 14 is the first step in building a workforce meant to turn the world’s biggest sporting moment into something visitors—and athletes—actually remember.
