Knoxville and Steve-O insist ‘Best and Last’ ends it

Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O say “Jackass: Best and Last” is their emotional finale after nearly 26 years—despite fans’ skepticism that “final” entries have come and gone before. Knoxville points to a bull-related injury and concussion that left him unable to
When the jokes get cruel in “Jackass: Best and Last,” Steve-O doesn’t just roast Johnny Knoxville for his stunts—he also mocks the idea that this really will be the final chapter.
It’s the kind of wink fans have learned to expect from a franchise that has repeatedly promised “the last one” and then kept going. But Knoxville and Steve-O are stepping into that skepticism head-on, insisting that this time there won’t be another “Jackass” movie.
The movie is now in theaters, and the stars are saying the ending is final—period. Steve-O told the outlet. “I’ve had countless people ask me. ‘Oh. is it really the last one?’ There seems to be. every time. a real palpable hint of skepticism… ‘Like. ‘Oh. you’re going to say it’s the last one. and then you’re going to do another one.’ And to all those people I’ve said. ‘No. no. no. This is absolutely the last one.’”.
Knoxville matched the certainty with his own blunt line. “There is a zero percent chance there will ever be another ‘Jackass.’ We’re done. Period.”
The reason for that finality isn’t just marketing. Knoxville, 55, said he can no longer do the kind of big stunts he used to, especially after a major injury during the making of “Jackass Forever.” He suffered a concussion after being hit by a bull, and he said his doctors told him, “I was done.”
For fans, the timing lands on a franchise history that’s hard to ignore. Many people assumed 2022’s “Jackass Forever” would be the last film. The uncertainty has followed the actors for years. In 2021. Knoxville told GQ that “Forever” would be the end of his involvement in “Jackass. ” and he later clarified that it wasn’t necessarily the final film. He said. “Someone wrote it was the last one. but we never said it was the last one. ” adding. “he told Variety.”.
In other words. this isn’t the first time the phrase “final” has appeared around “Jackass.” Knoxville said that pattern started early. Speaking about his expectations after the first movie. he said. “After the first ‘Jackass. ’ we said we’re done. and we weren’t… So after every ensuing ‘Jackass. ’ we just left it open.”.
Now, he says they aren’t leaving it open anymore.
Even so, “Best and Last” is written with the skepticism baked in. In one scene, Steve-O roasts Knoxville by saying no one will believe him when he says it’s the last movie.
Both stars also point to how the “Jackass” world might keep moving forward without becoming another “Jackass” film. Steve-O said he’s confident there will never be another movie. but he suggested “Jackass” could return in a different form—specifically as a documentary series that tells the story and digs behind the scenes. He said. “I’m so confident that there will never be another ‘Jackass’ film. ” but added that it’s “inevitable” there will be “some sort of docuseries. which tells the story of it. gets more behind the scenes of it all. I think that docuseries is an inevitability. so if you wanted to call that more ‘Jackass. ’ I suppose then maybe there will be more. But no more new movies.”.
Knoxville confirmed that idea could be coming. He said, “I think there’s plans to do a ‘Jackass’ documentary not too far down the line.”
He also addressed why fans won’t see something like “Jackass 5.5” after “Best and Last.” In the franchise’s earlier stretch. follow-up releases such as “Jackass 2.5” and “Jackass 3.5” used material that didn’t make it into the final cut of the original films. Knoxville said there won’t be a similar follow-up this time because “we didn’t shoot enough” for it. although he said some footage did get cut from the finished movie.
“I did some things, some of them didn’t even make the movie,” he said. “I got a liver shot from a heavyweight boxer, which is incredible pain.”
Whatever comes after the stunt films, Knoxville said the cast won’t disappear. He told the outlet he expects he’ll keep working with his longtime costars on other projects. One move is already underway: he’s launched a brand new “Jackass” podcast, and the first episode dropped on June 18.
“We plan on doing other things together, other films together, but just not ‘Jackass,’” Knoxville said. He added that the group’s chemistry and endurance are part of the reason the franchise spirit can keep going outside the movie series. “It’s a really special group of friends. and we’ve been lucky enough to have so much love and support from the public. and there’s no reason to stop. Plus, the cast and crew have been together so long. We love hanging out together.”.
For fans who have watched “last” promises cycle through the series before. the question has never been whether the stunts are entertaining—it’s whether the finale will actually hold. This time. Knoxville’s injuries and the way he described being told by doctors that he was done add a weight to the declaration that fans can feel in the real-world limits behind the comedy. Steve-O and Knoxville may still be joking about disbelief in the movie. but they’re asking viewers to believe them anyway.

Yeah sure it’s the last one, they always say that 🙄
I don’t buy it. “Finale” just means they’re gonna take a break and come back with some spin-off. Also the bull concussion thing… man, I hope he’s okay but Hollywood always milks injuries.
Knoxville saying “zero percent” cracked me up. Doctors told him he was done after a bull injury but then somehow he’s still out there doing press and jokes. Like is it physically done or just “done for now”?
Concussion from a bull??? That sounds fake, I mean Jackass has been “final” forever. Didn’t they say it was the last time with the last movie too? I feel like they’ll do one more if the streaming numbers are good or if someone new gets hurt (not saying that to be mean, just… that’s how it feels).
