Knicks head to Finals: Long Island watch parties

Knicks NBA – New York Knicks fans on Long Island are packing local restaurants and bars to watch the NBA Finals after the team reaches the Finals for the first time since 1999. Game 1 is June 3, with additional watch parties planned for June 8 (Game 3) and June 10 (Game 4)

The feeling around Long Island has been building since the Knicks clinched a trip to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. Now, fans don’t just have something to watch — they have a reason to meet, show up in jerseys, and stay late together as the games begin.

Game 1 tips on June 3 against the San Antonio Spurs, and multiple local spots are ready with big-screen TVs, specials, and the kind of crowd energy that only comes when a hometown team finally gets back to the stage that matters.

Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall at 3232 Railroad Ave. in Wantagh is one of the first stops for Knicks fans looking for a straightforward watch-party setup, with drink and food specials.

At Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore (25 Drexel Dr.) and in Ronkonkoma (1 Hawkins Ave.), the rally is built into the deal: fans can watch on big-screen TVs, wear a New York Knicks jersey, and get 15% off the bill.

In Lindenhurst, The Spread Bar and Grill at 22 Hoffman Ave. is taking the game outside. The outdoor viewing party starts at 7 p.m., with fans watching on a giant inflatable TV screen. Knicks merchandise — T-shirts — will be launched into the crowd, and the night will include beer bucket specials.

Port Washington is getting its own spotlight at Landmark on Main Street — Jeanne Rimsky Theater, 232 Main St. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. on June 3, with free admission and the bar open. There’s a fee for drinks. Fans can catch Game 1 on a big screen.

Prime on the Mile at 340 Woodcleft Ave. in Freeport is also leaning into the pregame rush. The event is both indoor and outdoor, with Knicks gear encouraged, and an open bar (sangria and margarita) from 5 to 6 p.m. Happy hour deals begin at 5 p.m., offering $11 drinks and appetizers.

Over in Bethpage, BK Sweeney’s Parkside Tavern at 356 Broadway is promising more than just screens. The finals will be shown on more than 20 large screen TVs, with a game day menu, or fans can watch from the patio. Live music from the South Bay Trio is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 3.

Back in Lindenhurst again, Breakers Burrito Bar at 147 S. Wellwood Ave. is built for sports fanatics watching on big-screen TVs, with the same familiar jersey incentive: fans who wear a New York Knicks jersey get 15% off the bill.

If you’re the type to bounce between rooms — or just want options — Main Event is set up for a crowd across two locations: 1815 Broadhollow Rd. in Farmingdale and 799 Old Country Rd. in Plainview. The finals will be shown on large-screen TVs along with drink and beer bucket specials. Watch times are listed for 8:30 p.m. on June 3 and also on June 5, June 8, and June 10. There’s no cover or minimum.

And when the schedule turns to Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden, the viewing plans shift from typical bar nights to something more like a full celebration.

For Game 3 on June 8, 388 Italian Restaurant at 388 Willis Ave. in Roslyn is offering a “Dinner plus Knicks” viewing party. The event includes dinner, cigars, and live music with Johnny Avino, plus raffles and drinks. It’s scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 8, and the cost is $250, which includes dinner and drinks.

For Knicks fans. the common thread is simple: whether it’s a brewery with a jersey discount. a backyard-style party with an inflatable TV. or a dressed-up dining event with live music and raffles. the Finals aren’t being watched in isolation. They’re being watched together — and for a team returning to the Finals after 1999, that’s the whole point.

  1. Love that Long Island is actually doing watch parties for once. 1999 was forever ago. Also why is it saying June 8 for Game 3 like everyone’s gonna remember that??

  2. Inflatable TV screen sounds kinda sketchy, I feel like it’s gonna deflate or be blurry. But hey, 15% off if you wear a jersey? That’s how they get you to drink more. Wait is it against the Spurs or San Antonio is the team right? lol

  3. Good for them, finally back in the Finals after 1999, that’s wild. I’m surprised they’re doing stuff in so many towns like Wantagh, Bay Shore, Ronkonkoma… seems like the whole island just decided to be one giant sports bar. The outdoor one in Lindenhurst though?? giant inflatable TV?? I can’t tell if that’s gonna be fun or a rain disaster. And if they throw merch into the crowd that’s gonna turn into chaos real quick.
