Knicks await Game 7 winner after Spurs-Thunder clinch

Spurs vs – New York’s first NBA Finals berth since 1999 sets the stage for the next chapter: Saturday’s Game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center, with the winner earning a 2026 Finals matchup with the Knicks. Tipoff is 8 p.m. ET on

When the Knicks finally punched their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, die-hard fans didn’t just celebrate the moment—they clung to it. In New York, it felt like relief you could hear.

Now the question shifts west. One more game stands between the Knicks and their opponent: Game 7 of the Western Conference finals on Saturday, May 30, when the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder meet with a spot in the 2026 NBA Finals on the line.

The stakes are unusually sharp because the path to this decider has been anything but relaxed. After a double-overtime Game 1 between the Spurs and Thunder, the next five games have all been decided by double digits. San Antonio forced this winner-take-all showdown with a commanding Game 6 victory. powered by star Victor Wembanyama. which kept the Spurs from being eliminated.

The timing matters for Oklahoma City, too. The Thunder—aiming to become the first team since the Golden State Warriors a decade ago to repeat as NBA champions—had a key boost in Game 6 with the return of injured guard Jalen Williams. Even with him back, he hardly looked like himself. At the same time, two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was largely held in check by a ferocious Spurs defense.

For the Spurs, Game 7 carries a different kind of pressure. It will be the first Game 7 experience for the young Spurs. who are trying to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. This is also the first Western Conference finals to include a Game 7 since the Warriors beat the Houston Rockets in 2018.

The public split in projections adds to the tension heading into Saturday night. Odds and picks paint a close matchup, but not a comfortable one.

The betting line lists the Thunder as favorites: Thunder (-3.5) against the spread, Thunder (-160) on the moneyline, and a Spurs (+135) moneyline. The over/under sits at 212.5.

Predictions among reporters also run in both directions. A panel of six NBA experts from one outlet is split, with three reporters picking San Antonio and three going with the Thunder.

Lorenzo Reyes predicts Spurs 111, Thunder 107. James Williams forecasts Thunder 115, Spurs 108. Scooby Axson has Spurs 115, Thunder 109. Mark Giannotto goes Thunder 114, Spurs 105. Victoria Hernandez picks Thunder 117, Spurs 107. Marcus Smith concludes Spurs 123, Thunder 110.

ESPN’s outlook tilts slightly toward Oklahoma City. Of nine NBA experts polled by ESPN. six picked the Thunder to win Game 7 of the Western Conference finals over the Spurs. ESPN’s Zach Kram wrote that the Spurs “have never looked cowed by the moment in this postseason. ” but Game 7 stakes are different—“tighter and tenser and lower scoring than the average playoff game.” He added that with two Game 7 wins last postseason. Oklahoma City “knows how to handle those circumstances.”.

NBC Sports is leaning the other way just enough to matter. Its betting model is “leaning” toward picking the Thunder on the moneyline and recommends taking the Thunder to cover the spread.

The rhythm of this series has pushed both teams into familiar territory—big swings. then big margins—especially after that double-overtime opener. Game 7 will be a different test. but the numbers behind each prediction and the way games have landed by double digits are part of why this matchup has the feel of a single. decisive turning point.

For fans trying to catch it live, Game 7 of the Western Conference finals between the Spurs and Thunder will be broadcast nationally on NBC, with streaming available via Peacock. Coverage is set for Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m. ET at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

By the time the winner is decided, the Knicks’ long-awaited Finals opponent will be known—someone will earn the right to answer New York’s sudden, historic momentum.

  1. Game 7 already?? Wait so Knicks are just watching like it’s March Madness brackets or what.

  2. I thought Knicks were in the Finals already lol. But yeah Spurs vs Thunder for the West makes sense I guess. Wemby better not choke.

  3. If Thunder won Game 6 with Jalen Williams back, then Spurs should’ve been done, right? Like I don’t get how it goes to Game 7 if your guy “hardly looked like himself” but still won. Anyway Knicks better be rested.

  4. This is the year Spurs go back?? 1999 finals vibes or whatever. Also why do they keep saying Victor Wembanyama like it’s the only player on the team. Paycom Center sounds like a dentist office lol. Hopefully Thunder don’t repeat the same mistakes.
