KBO tops 4 million fans in fewest games

KBO tops – The Korea Baseball Organization reached 4,035,771 fans through 222 games—its fastest pace ever—while Thursday’s matchups kept packing stadiums across South Korea.

On a Thursday night when the stands stayed full, the Korea Baseball Organization quietly marked a milestone that will be hard to top: 4 million fans—reached in the fewest games in league history.

The KBO announced attendance of 4,035,771 through 222 games played. Five games were on the slate that day, drawing a combined 68,838 fans.

The speed matters. The previous record for reaching 4 million was 230 games, set in 2025. Last year, the league set a single-season attendance record with just over 12.3 million fans, and it is still on pace to break that total this season.

Thursday’s crowds underlined how quickly the momentum is building. In Daejeon, the Hanwha Eagles hosted the Lotte Giants before a sellout crowd of 17,000 at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark. In Pohang, the Samsung Lions packed their alternate home stadium with 12,120 fans for a game against the KT Wiz.

In Seoul, at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, 16,593 fans watched the Doosan Bears host the NC Dinos. In Gwangju, the game between the Kia Tigers and the LG Twins at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field drew 15,082 spectators. At Gocheok Sky Dome in the capital city. 8.043 fans turned out for the tilt between the Kiwoom Heroes and the SSG Landers.

The league has now cleared every million-fan milestone so far this year at a record-breaking pace. Its average attendance stands at 18,179 fans per game, up from 16,839 at this point last season. All 10 teams have increased their average attendance from last season.

By Thursday, the KBO had already experienced two more sellouts, bringing the total to 130 out of 222 games played at packed stadiums. The sellout record for a season is 331, set in 2025.

  1. 4 million fans?? That’s crazy. I didn’t even know Korea baseball was that big honestly.

  2. So they hit 4 million in fewer games… but why does it say 8.043 fans in Gocheok Sky Dome, like is that a typo or decimal weirdness? Either way people must really love it.

  3. Ngl this sounds like MLB numbers but for Korea lol. If their average is 18k a game then the math kinda checks out, I guess. Also “sellouts” means they were at full capacity right? Might be the league marketing pushing it, like those 1 million milestones sound made up.

  4. I saw something about Daejeon selling out and thought it was just a fluke because of the weather or a special promo. But apparently it’s happening everywhere. Still, how can the record be faster than 2025 if last year they had 12.3 million already? Doesn’t that mean they should’ve hit 4 million sooner? Idk.
