Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau turned Coachella into what looked a lot like a real date night—at least based on what Perry posted from the 2026 weekend.
On Sunday, April 11, Perry, 41, wrote “Heat checkin’ these chickens,” sharing a handful of moments from the night before at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. In one snap, the pop star and Trudeau, 54, sat together while noshing on festival snacks. Another image showed them holding hands as they strolled through the iconic Indio, California, festival grounds. The whole thing had that easy, “we’re just here for the vibes” feel—like you could almost hear the distant bass from the main stage, even from the phone screen.
Perry dressed casually, too, sporting a white T-shirt and coordinating shorts with a black hoodie tied around her waist. Trudeau went for a white T-shirt and blue jeans, topped off with a backwards-facing Montreal Alouettes baseball cap. The details mattered—because someone always has to notice the cap—and the Canadian football team’s official account responded to Perry: “Love the 🧢 choice @justinpjtrudeau.” They added, “We have to get you some merch too @katyperry 🤩.”
The couple didn’t just wander around, either. They even made it to see Justin Bieber’s headlining set on the main stage. Perry shared footage from Saturday night where she joked, “Thank God he has Premium,” adding, “I don’t wanna see no ads.” It’s such a small line, but it also kind of says what the night probably was—fun, a little silly, and not overthought.
Perry and Trudeau have been together since summer 2025. “They’ve decided to be much more private about [their relationship],” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in September 2025. “[They] are very interested in each other.” As their romance continued to blossom, they traveled to Paris in October 2025 to ring in Perry’s 41st birthday. “Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” a second insider told Us at the time. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship. Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
Perry moved on with Trudeau shortly after Us confirmed that she called off her near-decade-long engagement to Orlando Bloom. Perry and Bloom, 49, now coparent their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy. Trudeau, for his part, was married to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, with whom he shares three children, for 18 years until they separated in 2023. Trudeau’s children have since formed a bond with Perry. Xavier, his oldest son, said on the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast earlier this month, “When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her].” He added that Perry “she’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change. She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy so that’s important.”
And yeah, it all comes back to that same feeling from Coachella: not just public sweetness, but something that seems—at least in these snapshots—to be actually working for them. Or maybe it’s just one perfect night. Hard to say, but the cuddling part is pretty hard to miss.
